The Udung Uko LGA chairmanship hopeful Engr. Etim (Ben) Edenseting had a
consultative meeting with the executives of Udung Uko Youth stakeholders forum
(The apex and all encompassing youth group in Udung Uko). Read and see more photos below...
The
meeting which was held at Villa Sacramento Hotel, Eyokponung was organized as
an avenue for Engr. Edenseting to
declare his intent to the youths and also to chart the way forward for the
Local Government Area.
While
making an opening remark, the chairman of the youth stakeholders league,
Comrade John Esio sincerely thanked the chairmanship aspirant for recognising
the importance of the youths in the scheme of things of Udung Uko LGA and
informed him and his entourage of the youths’ readiness to align with the
appropriate stakeholders to ensure a brighter future for the Local Government
Area beginning from who takes the chairmanship seat.
When
called upon to officially enlighten the teaming youths on the purpose of the
visit, the Director General of Osuini Abazi Campaign Organization, Pastor
Clement Okon took time to thank the Youth alliance for being so well structured
and noted that it was the first time in the history of Udung Uko that youth
activity had recorded such mature organization. He went further to advise the
youths to take into cognizance that the very decision they will take can either
make or mar the future of Udung Uko LGA. He however charged the caucus to put
all aspirants who will come to consult them in a weighing balance so as to
determine their respective worth.
Concluding
his assignment, Pastor Clement Okon presented the principal of Osuini Abazi
campaign organization, Engr. Etim (Ben) Edenseting to the house, referring to
him as the man who will move Udung Uko LGA to the next level. Engr. Edenseting
was however, warmly and cheerfully received by the caucus.
Speaking,
Engr. Edenseting earnestly thanked the organization for such warm reception
which he described as ‘’enrapturing’’. He asked the youths to see his aspiration
as theirs, and as a blessing to the young folk being that he is aspiring from
amongst the youths.
The principal, who is known for his eloquence and
coherence, took time to intimate and analyze his blueprints which encompass
infrastructural development, training and empowerment, investment, agriculture,
education, skill acquisition, health etc to the gathering and handed one copy
of a booklet containing his plans for the Local Government Area to the chairman
of the caucus.
He
advised the youths to stay out of contemporary vices and violence and also
urged them to support the government of the day at the State level, noting that
it is only through such support that governor Udom Emmanuel will gain focus so
as to deliver on his good promises to the people of Udung Uko LGA in particular
and the entire state in general.
Responding
to the chairmanship hopeful’s speech, one of the executive members of the youth
Caucus who is also the Udung Uko dakada ambassador, Comrade Sunday Abianwa once
again thanked the Engr. Ben Edenseting for honouring the caucus by being the
first aspirant to consult them. He advised him to be hard-working in his
campaign activities and pay deaf hears to side talks and tittle-tattles,
assuring that the caucus will surely do everything possible to ensure that the
best emerges as the executive chairman of Udung Uko LGA.
In
order to bring the meeting to a close, the chairman of the stakeholders forum,
Comrade John Esio in an encapsulating closing remark, made the following
comments:
i.
That Udung Uko youths have given Engr. Etim (Ben) Edenseting the mandate to
contest for the chairmanship position of the LGA.
ii.
That the entire youth of Udung Uko will work hard to ensure the best aspirant
emerges.
iii.
That the youths will reject even to the point of protest, any attempt from
wherever to use the chairmanship position of Udung Uko as compensation on
anybody.
iv.
That youths will embark on a massive protest if they are sidelined from any
form of decision making as it concerns Udung Uko LGA.
The
meeting which was very well attended by the entire executives members of the
forum cum other youth dignitaries including the Chapter youth leader of PDP,
Hon. Nyong Obiesio, Supervisors for Youth and Sports, Hon. Asuquo Edet Okon
(Aje), SA to the chairman on political matters, Hon. Kingsley Obiesio, Comrade
Saviour Edenseting, immediate past NAAKIS President, Comrade Emmanuel Esifa and
many other members of the youth stakeholder forum was brought to a close with a
parting prayer as was led by Pastor Marvin Antak.
