The Zonal Head
of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Lagos Office,
Garba Dugum charged youths to take up the gauntlet in the fight against
Corruption.
He made this statement when he received members of the
EFCC/NYSC CDS Integrity group of the Lagos State National Youth Service
Corps today at the EFCC Ikoyi office.
Dugum applauded the efforts of the corps members in sensitizing the public on the ills of corruption and urged them to do more.
He said the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes
should be all embracing, as the EFCC cannot do it alone, but with the
collective efforts of all stakeholders.
According to Dugum, “You,
youths are the leaders of tomorrow. Don’t allow only few individuals
manipulate the resources of the country while others die of abject
poverty. It is your duty to go to the last person on the street and tell
him about the ills of corruption”.
Dugum also commended the efforts
of the President Muhammadu-led administration, who he said is
determined to see that corruption is brought to the barest minimum.
He urged the youth group to key into the vision by imbibing integrity
as a way of life and playing their parts in ensuring a better Nigeria.
“Try your utmost to take this campaign everywhere. You are nearer to
the common man. Be you a teacher, engineer or a doctor, you have a duty
to salvage this country and secure your future by educating people in
your communities to shun corruption and its perpetrators”, Dugum
admonished.
The corps members who were led by their President,
Elusogbon Olamide, expressed gratitude at the encouragement and
mentoring that the commission accord the group, pledging to remain
committed to the struggle against corruption.
They also sought support for their upcoming project which is aimed at sensitizing the public on the ills of corruption via the use of the social media.
