NOW! This is
politics. (referring to the pix below) Its not about self, family,
group or friends. It is about service to the people and interest for
your constituency.
Politics is not deceit but decent. Its not for personal interest but for general interest. Its not for enrichment but for the commonwealth of a Community. Its not for conceited manipulations but calculated and deliberate orchestration of progressive humanity-based policies.
Its not for monitory enrichment but to accumulate a treasure of values: Integrity, Honesty, Equity, Justice, Leadership/Followership.
Let's start a new phase and redefine politics away from what most our youth believe is politics.
Akwaibomites-nay-Nigerians, particularly our youths bellies violence, thuggery, lies, deceits, arson, rigging of elections, in-cohesion, blackmail, murder and such vices as attributes of good politicking.
Evidently on Facebook, the magnitude of illiteracy on the functions of government and governance is alarming.
This trend is gradually and steadily deriding any iota of decorum and morality in the society at our own peril.
NGOs should evolve to tackle this Monster. Organisations like Churches relevant Agencies should embark on orientation and sensitization programmes on politics as a tool for development and the effective usage of diplomacy and dialogue to resolve issues without resorting to violence and crime.
This, I believe would do a whale of good to the society as most youths act in absolute ignorance of what is going on around them.
It is therefore presently understandable if by the frustrations brought upon them by fake politicians, they resort to all forms of crime, unruly behaviour, indolence and insolence which has suddenly become their past time.
But should we cut our nose to spite our face or should we throw away the bath water with the baby?
