It was a Dutch Post-Impressionist Painter, Vincent van Gogh, who once averred, that "The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reasons for remaining ashore."

The above quote is succinct in describing the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh who upon his appointment into the State Executive Council, hit the ground running, and within a short time, changed the face of Information management and dissemination in the State, to the amazement of many.

Perhaps, it is the Commissioner's dexterity in his job that has awakened elements of discord and political jobbers, who have recently, in a fictitious report, allegedly identified Mr Charles Udoh as sponsor of a planned defection in the State.

Before I delve into that issue, let me quickly add that Mr Udoh's appointment as Commissioner for Information and Strategy, came at a time when the Ministry - the information machinery of the State, needed to be re-engineered, repositioned and rebranded, for prompt and effective information delivery.

Given that the Information Ministry is an integral component of the State, it is therefore an intellectual conjecture that, Charles Udoh is a key player in Governor Emmanuel’s Dream Team 1.

Mr. Udoh is not only a successful financial connoisseur, but also an experienced business manager extraordinaire, who has remained a mentor and role model to many people, especially the youths, and anyone who desire to excel in their various fields of endeavour.

His intimidating and good track records has made the rejected, ignored, abandoned and defeated opposition party uncomfortable with this gentleman of standard, hence they feel the only way to attack him is to link him to their predicaments.

Interestingly, Mr Udoh with his many years of public and private service, has always exemplified qualities of the Biblical Elisha, serving diligently, in whatever assignment he is saddled with, and lending credence to the charge by the Holy Book in Ecclesiastes 9:10A, that, "whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might..."

From the day he was appointed Commissioner, till date, Udoh has remained a consummate Information Manager and Strategist, an astute technocrat and a passionate Public Servant, helping tremendously in the management and dispersal of the Governor's excellent vision and peculiar programmes for the massive industrialisation of Akwa Ibom State.

As Commissioner, Udoh is constantly engaging his mind and intellect to formulating programmes and policies that will bring sustainable development to the State.

With his dyed-in-the-wool professionalism and managerial skills of men and resources, he has helped in the efficient management of the State’s information system, developing a sound information management model and strategy, to ensure effective and efficient publicity of key government programmes, and achievements.

Back to business. A recent Press Release by the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom State and signed by its "Acting Publicity Secretary", Barr. Edet Bassey, alleged that Mr Charles Udoh has perfected plans to stage a fake defection ceremony in Uyo and further insinuated that Mr Udoh is also sponsoring the printing or fake APC membership cards.

Apparently, the false and malicious accusation against the person of Mr Udoh, is a figment of the sick and
perverted imagination of some mischief makers with unimaginable and unredeemable parochial minds.

It would have been needless to dignified such fallacious and baseless report with a response (as it is a mere tissue of lies), but for the sole reason of setting the record straight, protecting his integrity and disabusing the minds of some undiscerning readers who might mistake the fiction for fact.

Therefore, the general public should totally disregard the fake report in its entirety, as it is outrightly baseless and only aimed at denting the Commissioner's image, breeding disunity in the State and discrediting his lofty contributions to Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration.

The true position is that Mr Udoh is NOT involved in fake or real defection at all. What is rather playing out is that the APC in Akwa Ibom State wobbled by its pauperised performance at the Center, unmitigated rejection in the State (Akwa Ibom) and the fast popularity of Hon. Charles Udoh. It is however ludicrous and gormless that instead of putting its house in order, the Akwa Ibom State APC has resorted to cheap blackmail, thus misinforming the populace by spewing thrashes against Mr. Charles Udoh and by extension, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.

What the perpetrators of disharmony should rather understand is that no amount of cheap blackmail, name-calling, or character assassination can weigh down or deter Mr. Charles Udoh from ensuring that the programmes and achievements of the current administration in the State, under Governor Udom Emmanuel is rightly disseminated.

While it is advisable for Edet Bassey to rather concentrate in resuscitating his party which could be likened to a sinking boat, it is also worthy to note that, the Commissioner, as earlier established, knows and understand fully well, "that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible", but truth is that, he (Charles Udoh) remains undaunted in his bid to raising the bar, as far as information management and strategy in Akwa Ibom State is concerned.

Those that are afraid of Charles should rise up above cheap blackmail and childish mindset and respect this great icon of strategy.
