"I can't go to jail, I won't survive in there. Layo, please help
me."
"What do you want me to do?
"I don't know, anything, just help me, I promise never to be mean
towards you again. Please. "
"I think we should call the police and tell them it was an accident.
I'll support whatever you say, we can tell them she fell." At this point,
Layo would say anything to get out of this mess.
"No. They won't believe us, you might even change your story. I'm not
taking that chance. Here's what we will do, we dispose of the body. We clean up
the house and act like nothing happened. We can still have our happy ever after
ending."
"Now I am scared. This is devious. He has gone mad." Layo thought.
"I don't think we can pull that off Femi, I'm scared."
"It's either you cooperate with me or I tell the police you got jealous
of our affair and you killed her. People may dislike adulterers but there's no
chance in hell you'll be vindicated. You'll be the perfect murderer, the
scorned wife."
Femi said this without batting an eyelid. The man had gone bunkers.
So, after careful deliberation, Layo agreed to the plan, but she being a
fast thinker who read and watched detective/crime novels and movies, she swung
into action.
"I need my phone, now!"
"For What? To call the police, no way."
"No. I'm not stupid. I know what you'll do to me if I call the police.
I just want to establish an alibi for both of us.
Just in case anyone discovers
something incriminating, I need people to be able to vouch that both of us were
together tonight.
That will eliminate the presence of Angela in our home tonight."
Femi considers for a moment, and gives in to her plan.
He gives her the phone.
She puts a call through to her mum and Sade while they take turns talking to
them like the perfect couple.
After the calls, they move the body and wrap it in waste disposal bags.
They put the body at the back if the car and dump it in the lagoon.

What Femi didn't know was that after the calls, Layo had switched on the
phone's voice recorder, so all their audio activities were being recorded.
"Femi, what we're doing is wrong, the best thing would have been to
call the police after you killed that girl."
"Stop saying that! I told you if you call the police, I will turn on
you.
We shall then see who is more believable. Are you willing to take that
risk? We have discussed this and I have made my decision.
You do anything funny,and it's either you go down for this or we go down
together! Now, keep quiet and drive."
Layo drove to the lagoon where the body was dumped and they went back home
to clean up the mess they left behind.

A day after the murder incident, their home is sparkling clean, they both
set to leave for work.
"Layo, remember, don't do anything funny. If you do, I'm not going down
alone."
"Femi, I know, I wouldn't think of it. Enjoy your day."

Layo could hardly concentrate at work. She is at a crossroad.
Should she talk to someone?
Should she talk to someone?
Should she talk to the police?
Should she just keep quiet?
She was going nuts.
And just in the nick of time, Sade enters her office.
"Hello darling, madam prayer warrior, I have missed you. How are you? I
purposely didn't call cos you might not want to see me. I'm here now, spill.
And don't give me that crap about a career move. I know you, there is something
huge on your mind.
And so, she tells her everything.
She even gives Sade her phone so she can listen to the audio recording.

"Are you mad?
You want to keep this quiet?
You want to keep this quiet?
Have you even thought about the possibility that he could kill you if he perceives
you a threat to keeping his secret?
All these questions begged for answers.
"That's why I told you everything.
I'm confused. It's just that I don't want to be seen as the woman who helped
the police put her husband in jail."
"And you'll rather die protecting him? He is not worth it. We are going
to the police NOW!"
