It's been three days since Sade received the text message from Layo.
She has tried calling her severally with no luck. She even went to their house but it's been under lock and key.
She has tried calling her severally with no luck. She even went to their house but it's been under lock and key.
She's knocked and screamed her friend's name till the neighbours had to
threaten to call the police if she didn't stop and leave.
Sade is confused. Should I tell her family members? Or just keep quiet.
She went as far as going to Femi's office, but he told her Layo was out of town
and doesn't want to talk to her.
On the third day, she eventually summons courage and calls Layo's mother.
"Hello ma, eku irole ma-good evening ma."
"How are you my daughter? How is work?"
"I'm fine ma, I've not heard from Layo in a while, have you heard from
her ma?"
"Ehn ehn, she called me three days ago and said she would be going to
the mount to pray and she might not be reachable. She said she'll be there for
one week. Didn't she tell you?"
"She said something close but wasn't clear. Now I'm relieved ma.
Regards to everyone, bye ma."
"Alright dear, my regards to your parents."

"Femi please I beg you, let me just go out and see the sun. I can even
go to the market and buy soup ingredients so that I can prepare your favourite
meal.
Please I beg you, it's been three days. People would be getting
suspicious by now. Please, I beg you." She begs Femi amidst tears.
"Don't worry, you know I told you I could kill you and no one would
know; at least not immediately. I've got it all covered.
No suspicions just
yet, at least not in the next 4 days. Even your Mum was gullible enough to
believe you were the one on the phone when I faked your voice.
As far as everyone is concerned, you're on the mountain top. You've always been
a prayer warrior abi? " he laughs hysterically as he leaves her in the
guest room once again locking the door.
All she has done in the last three days was search her soul, pray, cry and
sleep. She could hardly eat the food she was being served.
What to do was beyond her. All she wanted was to escape the hell hole she
was in.
Angela was the only one that showed some sort of pity towards her.
What would become of her?
Her sanity?
Her job?
Her mother?
Her brothers?
Her friends?
Especially Sade?
She heard her screams and bangs on the door but the was nothing she could do.
"Femi, you are mad. Something is wrong with you. If you don't let that
woman out if that room, I am leaving."
"Hold on, I'm doing this for you, for us. If we succeed in breaking her
down and putting her in her place, you and I can do what we like and she won't
raise an eyebrow. She will be our slave forever."
Angela scoffs. "You think I'm a fool like her, you think I don't know
you have other girls apart from me? I'm out of here. I want no part of this
madness of yours."
"You can't walk out on me!"
Femi picks up the nearest wooden stool and throws at Angela. It hits her on the
head and she falls.
In a matter of minutes, the floor is full of blood. Angela is not moving
Femi gets close, checks her neck for a pulse, nothing.
Her wrists, nada.
He bends over her chest to listen to her heart beat, zilch!
She is dead!

Femi! Femi!! Femi!!!
"What's happening? What's wrong? Is Angela hurt? Let me out. I can
help."
Femi is confused, He doesn't know what to do. He is in tears.
He slowly goes to the guest room and let's Layo out upon her promise not to
shout.
She comes out into the living room to see Angela's corpse.
"Femi, what have you done?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to kill her, I don't know what to do, please
help me."
He says, crying, on his knees.
Layo is shaking, shivering, all she could say was: "This could have
been me, I could have been the one lying there, dead. "
At that moment, the reality of what Femi's abusive behaviour could do hit
her. She is dumbfounded, confused, in tears, angry, angry at Femi, angry at
herself for allowing things get this far.
This is it!
She needs to do something.
But what?
