Psalm 116:17 KJV
“I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord”.
For years, people have known how to use their sacrifices to obtain interventions. So, when believers are in any kind of trouble, they get to use their sacrifices to secure help, blessings, healings and all kinds of breakthroughs; and rightly so. But people have not known of the power of sacrificing to God in thanksgiving.
When you want to really thank God, you have to make up your mind to thank Him as a king. Doing any less is taking all He has done in your life for granted. It simply means you do not realize how much He has done for you. Over-familiarity is the source of taking things and people for granted. Let me list a few things we take for granted and for which we fail to sacrifice in thanksgiving to God.
-Check out your sound mind; you are not mad, and roaming the streets.
-Each time you sleep, you wake up without stress.
-Your heart has been beating since the day you were born, and it has never once stopped.
-See how many accidents and near-death situations you have escaped within your short life span.
-Can you imagine that you are not the one in the hospital; battling for life today? And even if you were, just still being alive is a major statement from God to all your enemies.
-Imagine how God provides for you constantly without fail.
The list is endless, and if you are not the kind that takes people for granted, then you will have more things to write about in your gratitude list.
Action Points
-Make a long list of things you have never bothered to thank God for ever before.
-Start thanking Him for all the things you had taken for granted and had consider as a right.
-Offer a major sacrifice along with your thanksgiving in this season.
Nugget
When you want to really thank God, you have to make up your mind to thank Him as a king; doing any less is taking all He has done in your life for granted.
