The Honourable Federal Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State in the National Population Commission (NPC), Engr.(Chief) Benedict Ukpong has charged the demarcators to take the phase four of the Enumeration Area Demarcation(EAD) exercise in the State which is taking place in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area seriously.
Engr.Ukpong handed-down the charge yesterday while declaring open the training of demarcators for the exercise held at the camp of the trainees in Ikot Ekpene.
The Commissioner congratulated the demarcators for making the list out of many who applied for the exercise, aimed at splitting Ikot Ekpene into small units in preparation to the 2018 National census in the country.
He thanked the Federal and the State Governments for their support in ensuring that the EAD exercise in Ikot Ekpene is a success.
Engr. Ukpong said the importance of the exercise cannot be overemphasised as it is the foundation upon which the forthcoming census rests.
The demarcators will be trained from October 30, 31and November 1, 2017 and start fieldwork immediately till November 19, 2017.
Recall that other phases of the EAD exercise in the State was carried out in Oron and Nsit Ibom local government areas.
The opening for the commencement of the fieldwork for the exercise was graced by the South South Zonal Coordinator for Phase four of EAD, Mr.Lanre Anifowoshe, the State Coordinator, Mr. Iyawa Madagwa, State Coordinator for Quality Control, Mrs. Mfon Nwachukwu as well as the State Director of NPC, Mr. Benjamin Ndaobong as well as the Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Democraphic Planning, Dr.Anthony Usoro, among others.
