Ephesians 5:25 NKJV
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,”
I have seen and heard of the complaints of many husbands and potential husbands about how frustrated they have become in relating with their wives and wives to be. There seem to be a serious confusion as to how to relate and handle their wives and fiancées. A husband goes out of his way and buys gifts, does a lot and makes sure he spends on his wife, just to prove his love for her. Then, at the end of the day, she is not impressed and sometimes not appreciative of all that he does. This can be extremely depressing and frustrating for the men.
The reason is that most husbands spell love in the wrong way to their wives. While men may want gifts, and all kinds of things as show of love, the case is different for the wives. What a wife needs is you! Jesus said to love your wife as Christ loves the church and ‘GAVE HIMSELF’ for her. So, what your wife needs is you, yes you, and not things. He gave himself, so, you must give yourself, your time, your eyes and your ears. When you do this, you would have spelt love for your wife. She sees this as love.
Another way is to put this in one word, and that word is ATTENTION. Probe your wife and get to know what attention means to her and you would have taken care of a very big problem in your home. The question is, how did Jesus give Himself to the church apart from dying?
a) He is ever present: He sent the comforter (the Holy Spirit) to be with us for all times. Your wife needs you around, she needs your presence; just to be with her. So, create the time that is exclusively her's.
b) Jesus communicates with the church all the time: You can be around and not speak to your wife. Women thrive on words. Your wife’s ears are more powerful than her genitals for sexual satisfaction. Take charge of her ears and speak love into it.
c) Jesus listens to His Church: Make your own ears available to your wife too. Women talk a lot, so be the one with whom she talks mostly. All she needs is for you to listen. She interprets your rapt attention as love.
Receive grace to give yourself to your wife today in Jesus Name.

i. Read today's word all over again.
ii. Discuss it with your wife for deeper insight.
iii. Ask God for help to form the habit of giving yourself to her.
iv. Wives, make a prayer for your husbands on this matter, and do not nag at them.

-Make prayer points on the points outlined and lift up yourself and your spouse to God for help.

What your wife needs is you, yes you! and not things. So, give yourself, your time, your eyes and your ears, because she interprets your rapt attention as love.
