Daily Success! Have some depths in your life - Ezekiel Atang

Mark‬ ‭4:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬
 

“Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away.”

Not everything we see today will last. Many things get to die or wither away as fast as they come, and the reasons vary from person to person and from story to story. But Jesus pointed out one major reason why people backslide from the love God, why businesses die, why churches dry up, why marriages don't work, amongst other things. It is the lack of depth. Call it, the lack of foundation, or a poor foundation.

In the parable of Jesus, this was the second ground that received seed. When the seed came, the ground received it with joy, and it grew in no time. Please don't be envious of people who seem to have quick and instant results. Many of such people lack depth or foundation. As I grew in the faith and in ministry, I came across people who just went off into high realms of manifestations in God that made me wonder what was probably happening to me. But as time went on, I noticed that many of such persons disappeared from the radar. And when I enquired, I realized many things happened that they were not prepared for.

It doesn't matter what it is you are involved in, please make sure you go deep with it. Make sure it has a foundation, make sure it is something that can last and stand the test or time. In our text, the ground received some scorching from the sun and that was the end of it. Further down in verses 16 and 17, Jesus explained that it had no root in itself; meaning it had no depth in its own life. You must have some root in yourself, not in the pastor or fellowship leader. 

It takes root to bring fruit and lasting fruit for that matter. The sun represents persecution and trials for the word's sake, and when this happens, it is your root that will sustain you and nothing nor anyone else. When the root is deep, no matter how heated the sun gets, it will never be able to kill the plant.
 

Establish yourself in prayer and the word today and you will have some depths in yourself.

ii. Make sure your prayer and study routine of the word is rigid and consistent.
