Luke‬ ‭22:31-32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬

“And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

The most important thing in your life is your faith, because the book of Ephesians 6:16, in speaking of our spiritual amour says "above all, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked".

So, whatever comes against your faith is called wickedness or the wicked. Of all the various amours we are to put on, faith comes tops, hence the phrase "above all".

This is so because, for everything that happens and does not happen to you, your faith remains the primary target. Once your faith successfully comes under attack, then you are officially finished. God forbid!

Jesus could see that Peter was going to come under a very wicked and viscous attack by satan, because Peter was the most outspoken, sensitive and outstanding of all the disciples. He was clearly the leader of the group after Jesus, because the others saw him so.

Twice they followed his moves: the first instance was when Jesus spoke of how satan had desired to sift him like wheat; Peter said "I would die with you"; and all others chorused the same.

Secondly, after the resurrection of Jesus, Peter said "I go afishing" and they all went with him too.

So, satan had the idea that he was going to carry the mantle of leadership, so he sought to deal with him.

In doing this, satan's primary target was Peter’s faith. This explains why Jesus said "I have prayed for you that your faith fail not".

Why did Jesus say this prayer? It is simply because the failure of Peter's faith is the failure of Peter's entire life and existence. He also knew that the failure of Peter's faith would mean the failure of the faith of the remaining ten disciples.

What is the lesson here? The enemy is looking for your faith. He wants to destroy it, he wants you to doubt God, he wants you to question all you ever believed about God in your life. The enemy can orchestrate events after events just to crush your belief system.

But like Jesus, I pray for you today, that your faith will not fail in Jesus Name. Whatever it is you are going through; may God keep you focused on him and strong in Jesus Name.

In closing, I need to say this; all the enemy has brought your way so far was not just about you but about your faith; it has been your faith under attack.

Receive grace to stand! having done all, stand in Jesus Name.

Assignment/Prayer
i. Ask the Lord to help you keep your faith strong.
ii. Receive grace to shield your faith the way a man would cover his candle in a windy atmosphere.

Nugget
Once your faith successfully comes under attack, then you are officially finished. God forbid!
