The Success Summit 2017 tagged, "Your Future is Now" which held at the Salt of the Earth Ministries, 15 Ikpa Road Uyo Monday, May 1, 2017 was yet another forum where participants sang more praises to God for the life of Hon. (Prince) Idongesit Ituen, Member, Itu State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
The event witnessed an overwhelming recognition of the lawmaker as those in attendance thanked Prince Ituen for his vocality in his position as a parliamentarian on core issues of public policy as well as his human oriented activities, especially to his constituents, together with his interest in developing sporting activities in the state.
Speaking at the programme, a professor of communications in the University of Uyo, Prof. Ita Jon said he had tremendous respect for what the lawmaker was saying and that whether or not he was ready to govern the state, he will in no distant future work with people to compel him do so.
Ita Jon who spoke on "Turning the Common to Uncommon through Branding", said young people did not need to wait for the future as the government was not ready to give it to them, but that they rather rise and take their future in their hands while not despising their little beginnings as that was going to lead them into being focused until they take over the future.
He encouraged young entrepreneurs to package themselves well and make their brands peculiar and attractive so as to comfortably compete with others and eventually stay ahead in business.
"I have tremendous respect for what you said today. Whether you want to be the Governor of this State or not, we'll force you to be Governor.
Young people must not wait for the future the government will creat for them. We must arise and take our future in our hands," he said.
Following what looked like an unending series of accolades and words of commendation by participants and the young people towards the lawmaker at the event, which also sought to propel young people into entrepreneurship, Prince Idongesit Ituen enlightened them on the activities of the House of Assembly and the recent bill being worked on to reserve 10 percent of all the state's revenue for youth empowerment.
"I am a very clean politician. I am a Christian and I was brought up in Church of Christ and that is what I stand for. I supervised an inter ministerial project that was adjudged the best through out the state about 10 years ago.
I work with people. One needs to be proactive. I try to touch lives and I have friends and follower ship. I am building a brand in Akwa Ibom.
"I have one dream and that's a big dream, that one very common man on the streets will one day become a Governor of this state, whether he is from Uyo, Oron, Annang, or wherever. One needs to work very smart. If the people are behind you, you can forget about who is against you. I stand firm on the things I believe.
In a room of 100 people, if 99 people choose the thing that is not right or do not fit into what I believe, I'll definitely hold fast to my belief."
Ituen however enjoined the young people to be serious with their engagements, remain focused and steadfast in whatever they do as government was reading to support them in all areas of human development.
The event which was hosted by Pastor Idy James witnessed talks and mentorship of the youths by other accomplished celebrities and entrepreneurs including Mr XTO, a musicologist and entertainer together with John Nta, MD/CEO of Treasure Island, Uyo.
