Educational Devt : AKHA SPEAKER HAILS INOYO TORO Foundation's Effort (Photos)

The efforts of a non-governmental organisation, Inoyo Toro Foundation in the development of the educational system in Akwa Ibom State has been applauded by the Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke.


He is of the opinion that the foundation has over the ten years contributed immensely to a turn around in the educational system in our state.

Addressing a team led by the Chairman of the screening Committee of the foundation, Dr. Enobong Joshua, Wednesday at the Assembly complex, Speaker said "Let me use this opportunity to formally and officially appreciate and commend the foundation for her effort in making sure that there is a turn around in our educational system in this state.



Education is not only to build infrastructure, the bedrock of educational development is to equip the teachers to gradually get them to be away of best practices and modern innovation in their area of discipline. When you equip instructors, they will give back to the students".

The Speaker of who congratulated the foundation on its upcoming 10th anniversary celebration slated for November at the Le-Meridian Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, commended the vision behind the establishing of the foundation, noting that it has been able to weather the storm in the past ten years, impacting the educational sector for the benefit of Akwa Ibom people.

He expressed optimism that the foundation would in future go national and international in its educational and human capital development effort. Barr. Luke assured of the support of the House of Assembly for the successful hosting of its anniversary.

Earlier in his address, Chairman of the screening committee of Inoyo Toro Foundation, Dr. Enobong Joshua, said the visit on the Speaker by the foundation was informed by his interest in the educational sector.

"We trust that as someone who has been engaged in policy making in educational sector for years, the state will continue to enjoy your good work, as we have been experiencing ".

Dr. Joshua explained that the vision of the foundation is to improve the standard of education in the state, using teacher motivation as the focal point.

He said the foundation has through her numerous engagements in the education sector over the years, complemented the government's effort in enhancing quality of of education.

He hinted that the Primary aim of the courtesy call on the Speaker was to brief him on the selection process and criteria for award winners ahead of the forthcoming annual award ceremony of the foundation which will mark the 10th anniversary of Inoyo Toro foundation.

According to Joshua, "Over the last 10 years, we at Inoyo Toro foundation have sustained our contributions to the development of Mathematics, English language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Visual Arts and History in Akwa Ibom State public secondary schools through fostering positive and healthy competition for excellence among teachers. So far, over 170 teachers have benefited from our awards".

Members of the House in attendance during the courtesy visit include, Hon. Effiong Bassey and Hon. Otobong Jonathan Akpan.

Among the delegation on the Inoyo Toro Foundation were, Mr. Joseph Udo, Miss. Emem Dominic, Mr. Idorenyin Mbang and Mrs. Imo Bassey.
