Call it a blackmail or 'darkmail', it's for attack. Mostly in politics. Whether on the pages of newspaper or orally. It brings one’s reputation down. And such a fellow hardly rise again. Then demolishes his/her height. whether in business, education, politics or others. But I would possibly throw a question.
Why now? Why the aides of the governor the carriers? Is Udom Emmanuel not aware that his aides are toeing wrong lanes? Leaving their duty posts to blackmail, castigate others wrongly? Or maybe that's the description of their job.
But why now when our governor is preaching peace and unity in all corners. Or maybe he's making mockery of us. If so, then we need a second thought.
In the last few weeks. It has been attacks everywhere. I mean on Akwa Ibom sons on the pages of newspapers. Call them local tabloids or state-based newspapers. They're the ones closer to the people.
The Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Obong Nsima Ekere was not spared. It came like a storm. Carefully planned and executed.
Courtesy of aides to Governor Udom Emmanuel. Calling the NDDC boss unjustifiable names. And the governor is questionably quiet. Meaning that he's aware.
Knowing too well that keeping silence means yes. Even when we all know. That Nsima is neither an armed robber nor a kidnapper. What then are their fears? Is it the NDDC jobs carefully distributed amongst our people? Or the fear of 2019? If none of the above.
Then there’s a problem somewhere. I saw it and it bricked my heart. I mean the story fabricated by Udom's aides.
Boldly published in The Nigerian Pulse (formerly Community Pulse), Global Pilot and Anchor Express Newspapers.
And we know those tabloids are owned and financed by Udom's aides. And indirectly from Government purse. Even though they also sent the story to other like-minds media houses.
Just to make the story well circulated. But then, it never went far. Because those tabloids have a production quantity of less than hundred.
With an unsold quantity of ninety four. That's after presenting few complimentary copies to government offices. It’s nothing to worry about.
In 2015, after Udom Emmanuel assumed office. There was a story in circulation against the governor. And I also published the said story. Not that it was false.
Not that anyone mentioned in the said story had come out to debunk or dissociate self from it. But because people in power think it will be forever.
I was arrested by DSS. And later by SARS. Detained molested and tortured. And later arraigned in court. But today. The same people. The same hearts and minds.
The same hands have written something more damaging against Nsima Ekere. No one is arrested or molested. No one is taking them to court. Whoever approaches equity.
Must always go there with clean hands. In Ibibio, they say akporo udoho inno, kaad ubok ise. Meaning, if you're not a thief, bring out your hand. But then.
Nsima will not go after them. And wouldn't even join issues with them. That's maturity, not pride. And that tells them that having a heart that is three sizes too small is not convenient in politics.
Now that attacks against Nsima Ekere are coming from Government House. No police or DSS official has issued invitation to them.
Even as they failed to mention where and when the NDDC boss became an armed robber. Neither did they mention how many people he has so far kidnapped. They rushed to conclusion that he's a kidnapper and an armed robber.
Without basis or a single sentence to back their claims. It's so tempting and discouraging. But then. We wouldn't forget the root. The cause as well. It's frustration. And let us not forget.
That a drown man could hold on to anything. Because Nsima Ekere's nice gestures has been visible and experienced. Repairing and constructing abandoned roads and other projects within the state.
Touching lives and involving youths, women and the elderly as well. Not like them. That uses half a budget to perform groundbreaking in the whole state.
And up till this very moment. Nothing has come forth. Groundbreaking sites now become death trapped. It has been abandoned, deserted. Maybe that's why Nsima is a kidnapper.
It has now been cleared. Why and how they open attack so early. Even as it has been advised. Never to judge someone's character based on the words of another. Instead, study the motives behind the words.
And the person casting the bad judgment. Which we had since done. And don't forget that an honest woman can sell tangerines all day.
And remain a good person until she dies. But there will always be naysayers who will try to convince you otherwise. Perhaps this woman did not give them something for free. Or at a discount.
Perhaps too, that she refused to stand with them when they were wrong. Or just stood up for something she felt was right. And also, it could be that some bitter women are envious of her. Or that she rejected the advances of some very proud men. Always trust your heart.
If the Creator stood before a million men with the light of a million lamps. Only a few would truly see him because truth is already alive in their hearts. Truth can only be seen by those with truth in them.
He who does not have Truth in his heart, will always be blind to himself. And the drama could be so astonishing. That's why this childish attack on Nsima Ekere.
The man we all know. The man who has lived with us for years. How then that a cabal of few ingrates chooses to affront with evil intentions? That’s not possible. Honestly, these attacks isn't a surprise.
And it shouldn't be taking serious. Because of how unserious the authors are. Maybe they thought that attacking Nsima Ekere could change anything.
Not now. Even before they started. We had known their hearts and intentions. Because of how this government came into existence. If I were them. I could better relax.
Regain myself than indulging to meaningless ventures. Because NDDC under Nsima has proven who the former deputy governor is. All these projects in Akwa Ibom isn't a joke. Meaning that he has our dear state at heart.
That's why most of us will say out our mind in 2019.
Ironically, the attacks were extended to an elder statesman. I mean the former governor of the state. Obong Victor Bassey Attah.
A man that governed Akwa Ibom for eight years without any invitation from EFCC. And they suddenly emerged with a tarnishing newspaper headline. 'Obong Attah dirty deals exposed!' Which dirty deals? When we all know.
That there was no single assassination, kidnapping and irresponsible leadership during his administration. There was none. None of his brothers was arrested by EFCC after his tenure.
He had no personal house after his reign as governor. The one he's residing now at Shelter was donated by a construction company. He dedicated his services to Akwa Ibom people.
Governed and people were happy. Families and friends were safe and secured. Could that be the dirty deals they've exposed? Please let us just be serious. It's no time for useless jokes.
At the burial ceremony of the late Paramount Ruler of Onna, Akpabio Udo Ukpa. Governor Udom Emmanuel preached peace and unity. But coming home, his aides are acting otherwise. They're fanning disunity and hatred.
Meaning our governor lied before a million crowd. Because action speaks louder than words. He needs unity whenever he climbs a podium to speak. Then causes attacks through his aides. Akwa Ibom State must be peaceful, not a war zone!
God Bless Akwa Ibom State!!!!
