Job 14:1, 7-9 KJV

“Man who is born of woman Is of few days and full of trouble. For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease. Though its root may grow old in the earth, And its stump may die in the ground, Yet at the scent of water it will bud And bring forth branches like a plant.”

There are no guarantees in this world for a failure free, fall-proof life or mis-shapened-free living. Every single step we take carries with them a lot of risks and potential problems.

It was for reasons such as this, that we have scriptures like Romans 8:28- "all things work together for good to them who love God. This means several things; all things may work together for bad to those who do not love God.

A believer may go through similar experiences and still wind up benefiting from what should have killed him.
Our text tries to explain something similar to us. There is hope for a tree when it falls.

This simply means that there is hope for every believer when he falls; because the Bible calls us the trees of righteousness and the planting of the Lord Isaiah 61:3. As a planting of the Lord, a fall cannot mean your end. Job described the fall of some people as follows:

-A tree may be cut down, meaning you came under attack and was cut down. But you cannot be cut off.

-Your shoots or roots may grow old in the ground. Meaning that you can't even remember the last time you saw real success, progress or real money.

-And your stump may even die in the ground; which means that everyone gave up on you and counted you out. But there is hope.

Your hope is in the scent of water. All it takes for a tree to come back to life is not even water itself, but the scent of it. Water anywhere means there is life. This can further mean that things will grow. Spiritually speaking water is the word of God. Ephesians 5:26 refers to the word as water.

It doesn't matter how down you may be, it doesn't matter how rotten your character has been. Your fortunes may have gone under without any hope of recovery, it could even be an attack on your health.

Believe me when I say your hope lies in one thing regardless of the grim indices men may give you; your hope lies in the word of God.

At the scent of the water of the word of God, you will sprout again. Submit and subject yourself to the spoken and written word of God in a very massive manner, for a period of 30 to 90 days, and watch your life spring again from nowhere. You are about to shock your generation and the naysayers around you in Jesus Name.
