Commissioner for works, Akwa Ibom State, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang has lamented the growing list of projects abandoned by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) across the state.

Inyangeyen who made the observation in his office Friday while speaking to newsmen on the current state on road projects in the state said some of the projects awarded and abandoned by the NDDC in the state have been undertaken by the Akwa Ibom State Government.

He noted that some of the projects abandoned by the Federal agency like a section of the School of Arts and Science road in Nung Ukim Ikono (600 metres) have now impeded the successful completion of roads done by the state government.

He corrected the impression that he said in Ikono that the Nung Ukim road was abandoned by PDP politicians. He dismissed such notion as being false, misleading and intended to create mischief.

Inyangeyen said that at no point did he call for the probe of any NDDC contractor as that was not within his powers or job specification. He noted that it is the duty of the NDDC to follow up on its projects and ensure that they are completed.

He reminded the writers of the news items that what he said is on tape and on the social media.
The works commissioner also noted that it was uncharitable for the NDDC to list roads completed by the Udom Emmanuel administration in its own list of projects.
