The Holy Bible counsels us not to be devoid of the antics of the devil. It also encourages us to be aware of the devil because most of those that call themselves Christians are nothing but wolves in sheep's clothing.
For my 14 years as a permanent resident of Oro, I can boldly say that there had never been a time that there has been the urge to fight against the injustice meted and perpetrated against Oro than now. This anti against Oro war was pioneered by Omen Bassey Esq.
A young and sound lawyer that has decided to commit his wealth and other forms of resources into this pro Oro battle.
He has done this exposing himself to risks from all quarters, and more from his kiths and kins that see his advocacy as a clog in their wheels of ill gotten wealth. Ill gotten wealth because it is the proceed of their betrayal of Oro.
As a lone voice in the wilderness just like John the Baptist in the Bible, some pro hearted Oro sons had to join him to condemning the marginalization of Oro in the scheme of things as presently constituted in Akwa Ibom state.
This made the hues and cries deafening to the ears of the oppressors. The shouting and protests became vociferous in nature.
As any thing good, those that got attracted to the work and message being preached by Omen came in their droves and were of different colorations. The good, the bad and the ugly all came calling. Some saw it as a platform with which they could sell themselves.
They did this with an ulterior motive to become popular and to make wealth out of it. These are the set of people I call the FIFTH COLUMNISTS.
THE FIFTH COLUMNISTS:
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defined fifth Columnist as " a group of secret sympathizers or supporters of an enemy that engage in espionage or sabotage within defense lines or national borders.
The American/ British English Dictionary defined fifth columnist as " someone who belongs to a group that secretly undermines an organization.
As can be deduced from the above definitions, the primary motives of the fifth columnists is to undermine the objectives of the parent organization. They may even be members of the organizations, which they subtly undermined.
FIFTH COLUMNISTS AND ORO LIBERATION AGENDA.
As already stated, Omen Bassey Esq. Pioneered the modern day liberation agenda of Oro. This he has been doing wholeheartedly and intrinsically.
He has attached no other considerations to this, other than seeing to the emancipation of Oro in all forms of its underdevelopment.
If aggrandizement or accumulation of wealth was the motivating factor, he would have been the wealthiest young men around. Far from it, that has never been his purpose for the liberation agenda.
Unfortunately, some youths that think of selves before Oro have invaded and corrupted the fine philosophy.
They now display their ill gotten wealth given to them by their pay masters. The very pay masters they once castigated for thwarting Oro's agenda.
They are now the boot lickers, praise singers, and yes men of Oro's traitors. Wealth aggrandizement is their first port of call. They brag of being friends with public office holders.
The question is, outside the offices held by these men, can these fifth columnists still identify with them? These fifth columnists hide under their education to perpetrate and further their selfish interests. Theirs is worse than that perpetrated by our illiterate broda in the hinterland.
While that of our illiterate brodas is necessitated by poverty of the brain, that of the fifth columnists is motivated by greed and the love for the primitive accumulation of wealth.
One being worshipped and revered by our youngsters just unfriended me because I became a thorn on his flesh and stood against all he stands for.
It's time to know the real believers of the Oro liberation movement.
