The future of the All Progressives Congress-APC in Nsit Ubium local government area is becoming bleak when APC political leader, Major Eka Eyoeffe (Rtd), led 860 registered members of the party to decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the local government, the development took place on Saturday 22nd 2017 during Easter Get Together organized by Nsit Ubium Stakeholders/Caucus members of the PDP at distinguished Senator Effiong Bob’s residence in Ikot Ekwere.
He said, they decided to defect to the PDP, after spending their hard earn resources with party that seek not their welfare and the party that pull Nigeria into recession, the party that economy of our country is unstable.
The former APC chieftain said, their children and generations unborn will not forgive them, if they fail to work with Deacon Udom Emmanuel, who is working assiduously to improve the living standard of Akwa Ibomites, and infrastructures like industries, roads, schools, markets and healthcare.
“My brothers and sisters from Nsit Ubium, I hereby stand before you today, with over eight hundred and sixty supporters from the hungry All Progressives Congress-APC to join Governor, Udom Emmanuel in PDP, so that more development can come to our local government.
Today, infrastructures are springing up every way and good roads have been constructed while some are under construction.
With our son, Rt. Hon (Barr) Onofiok Luke, joining Deacon Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom State will become small London in the nearest future, I used my personal income including my retirement benefits to fund APC and mobilize my supporters to vote for APC but after the elections none of them has come back to tell us thank you even our own brother that contested as governor” Eka said.
He further commended the archetype leadership style of the speaker of Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Rt Hon (Barr) Onofiok Luke and the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon Otobong Edemidiong, they have showed good examples in their respective offices, we can’t stay outside and watch them while they are leading us well, we have declared our total support to vote for Deacon Udom Emmanuel come 2019 elections for second term in office.
Also speaking at the event, Mr Tu Pac, the former APC youth mobilizer, said “I supported APC because our brother was contesting for governorship but now that he is not contesting for anything, and they are not taking good care of us, we can’t continue to remain again in APC, PDP stakeholders will always come home and celebrate with PDP supporters but there is nothing like such in APC, henceforth I declare to you that APC is a dead party in Nsit Ubium local government”.
They were received by the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Obong Paul Ekpo, “I receive you today into the party that will look after your welfare, I receive you into the party will want to see your growth and progress, with your son as the speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, your yearnings will always be listening to and our goal is to make sure we deliver PDP come 2019 elections in Akwa Ibom State.
