Ephesians 5:31-32 KJV
“For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be
joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great
mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”
When Paul the apostle, a man of many mysteries, a man who caught many revelations from God about a lot of the things we know today concerning grace and salvation begins to say that marriage is a mystery he would not want to talk much about; then you should know that the matter is a very serious one.
I will just attempt to venture a little into this mystery. A mystery is hidden knowledge about something. It is facts beneath the surface.
Adam was the first to say that a man would leave father and mother to cleave to his wife and they will both become one flesh. Then Jesus took it to another dimension.
He repeated what Adam said, but added something to it. He said; "wherefore they are no more twain but one flesh", Matthew 19:5-6.
This means that they are no more two separate individuals, but one person. Marriage was designed to make two people become one person.
You and your spouse are not two separate people but one person, as far as God is concerned.
As soon as you got married, God stopped hearing your prayers individually, but the prayers of you both.
Where one person is not happy the other will not get answers to that prayer. Why? You are no longer two but one person.
1Peter 3:7.
Secondly, God originally created male and female on the same day, but formed them on two different days; Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:7. So when a husband and his wife come together in sexual union, they assume a very powerful state of oneness, the way they were when they were created.
This state is so powerful that it produces another human being like them.
Only God has the power to single handedly produce human beings and that is because He is both male and female. He is Elshaddai; the many breasted God as well as being a man of war.
We were created like Him in the beginning (male and female), but he broke the male away from the female in formation.
But as soon as they get married and get together sexually, they become one again like God; thus manifesting the power to produce other human beings.
And if husband and wife can accomplish this then they can agree together and achieve practically anything they want to. This must be why Paul said it is a mystery.
Let husbands and wives begin to use this power to accomplish great things from today in Jesus Name.

ii) Discuss with your spouse and come up with plans to use your oneness to do great things.

-Thank you Lord for making us both like You.
-I engage this power with my spouse today to do great things in Jesus Name.
Nugget
Marriage was designed to make two people become one person. As far as God is concerned, you and your spouse are not two separate people but one person.
