A sudden increase in the theft of children and kidnappings in Akwa Ibom State has become a source of worry for the state as the peace of several families in different parts of the state has been shattered.
With this, The Speaker of The 6th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke,has cautioned the people of the Akwa Ibom state, especially The people of Nsit Ubium local government not to involve themselves in criminal activities like kidnapping and child theft as the state Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel has ordered security agencies to be mount everywhere to deal with perpetrators.
The Speaker gave the warning later Saturday in Nsit Ubium while addressing Nsit Ubium peoples at Effiong Bob's compound, Ikot Ekwere, Nsit Ubium LGA
The Speaker who is a two term member representing Nsit Ubium in the Akwa Ibom State house of Assembly, strongly warned criminals to stay clear of the state as it could no longer be safe haven for criminal activities. While urging all to be vigilant and also engaged themselves in productive Ventures as the present administration is working hard to bring development to the area.
"I want to plead with you, we don't want to hear any criminal activity in Nsit Ubium, the state governor has paid Logistics support for security operators and have given strong warning, any person who commit any crime will be dealt with seriously"
" We don't want to hear kidnapping here. We don't want to hear child theft, so we are encouraging you to go to your respective wards and unit and form a vigilante group because very soon a bill that is going to be Sponsor by me and my colleagues to illegalized vigilante service and to also enhance security service with the police in the state for the benefit of the people is under way "Speaker Onofiok Luke, noted
The Speaker also used the opportunity to informed the people that this week 100 farmers in Nsit Ubium will benefit from his financial support programme.
He also make known that 30bags of fertilizers will also be given out to farmers that day to enable their farm produces yield bountifully.
The number three man further noted that he will not rest on his oath In delivering the dividends of democracy to his people, which will expand through Education support, Agricultural support and other empowerment in numerous sector to the people.
