A political heavyweight, Mr. Ubong Akpan with other numerous grassroots footsoldiers of the APC in IBESIKPO Ward I and II have returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reports our Correspondent over the weekend.
Ubong Akpan aka Makavelli during the inauguration of Ward executive and village coordinators of IBESIKPO ASUTAN Progressives Assembly, IAPA, yesterday said Governor Udom Emmanuel was the reason of their coming back to the PDP, promising that they will use the PDP as a platform to actualise the Governor's 2nd term ambition, come 2019.
He said, he used to be one of the UDOM Emmanuel core crictics since he defected to the other party, but, by the unprecedented achievements recorded by this administration, he has no option than to embrace and support the governor to enable him do more.
He regretted joining the APC saying he and others finally had enough with APC and the Buhari's clueless government.
According to Makaveli, Nigerians have faced enough poverty, embarassment, lack of self esteem, hunger and persecution from Apc following their investments to help the party wrestle power with the PDP.
The strong politocian who was the Chapter Youth Leader of IBESIKPO ASUTAN PDP for the last 8years, said he was opstimistic that governor Udom Emmanuel will be delivered again especially, because of his DAKKADA philosophy which has emancipated the psychology of Akwa Ibom, nay IBESIKPO ASUTAN people from the earlier toga of 'teng kûûbô (prostrate) which has impoverished and insulted the collective sensualities of the progressives IBESIKPO ASUTAN youths and women.
He expressed joy in the magnitude and caliber of stakeholders present at the gathering.
He promised to partner with the IAPA to deliver Governor Udom Emmanuel come 2019, emphasizing that AKWA IBOM State today could only get better and peaceful should be given the platform to operate and participate in policies and programs of government.
Welcoming them back the defectors onbehaf of the Peoples Democratic Party in IBESIKPO ward I, the Chapter Financial Secretary of PDP, Mr. Aqua Aqua admonished them to embrace tolerance by advocating unity as enshrined in the motto of IAPA. He also pleaded with the defectors to remain firm in supporting the present administration led by His Excellency Udom Emmanuel.
He announced to all that the state governor, Udom Emmanuel is sincerely in need of their growth both in self empowerment and political leadership, thus, the need to cue behind and push him further as we geared towards 2019.
The immediate past councillor of the ward, Hon. Effiong Edet Effiong who spoke glowingly of the governor and the progenitor of the group, the Finance commissioner, Mr. Linus Nkan, commended the group's magnanimity, humility and transparency in mobilizing supports for the PDP.
Hon. Effiong said " as we did for other Senatorial districts, same should be applied, sustained and implemented for Eket Senatorial district whose mandate is upon Governor Udom Emmanuel".
He assured that IBESIKPO ASUTAN LGA is entirely with Udom Emmanuel and will stand for him at all cost to deliver Akwa Ibom State for the action Govenor come 2019. He posited that Uyo Senatorial District could not wait to take their turn in 2023.
In his remarks, the Director General of AIPA, Hon. John Job said the group is the most formidable socio political group in Ibesikpo Asutan local government area.
He expressed delight stating that there has never been any group in the history of PDP in ibesikpo Asutan that has been so concerned about the unity and welfare of the youths, women, elders and other stakehoders of the area.
He said the pedigree, political doggedness and sincerity of the commissioner for Finance was top-notch which was never seen in the history of the people.
In his remarks during the inaguration of IBESIKPO ward II, at Primary school Ikot Ambon IBESIKPO, Rt. Hon. T. O. Akpan assured IBESIKPO ASUTAN that 2019 is a sure mandate for Governor Udom Emmanuel to complete his eight year term for Eket Senatorial District.
He advised the youths, women, stakeholders of the party, the PDP to maintain the spirit of tolerance, mutual respect and togetherness to conquer.
Earlier, the Finance Commissioner, Mr. Linus Nkan said engaging the youth/women, empowerment, education, and employment was a must in IBESIKPO ASUTAN LGA.
To him, Youth and women empowerment have become a global phenomenon and Akwa Ibom State, ibesikpo Asutan are no exception to this trend.
The commissioner said engaging the youth/women population fully was no longer a choice but an imperative in the development process,
Represented by his SA on youth mobilization, Prince Nkereuwem Udom, he advocated for, an analytically discourse, strategies for engaging the youth/women through empowerment, education, and employment that is sustaining.
High point of the event was the inauguration of IBESIKPO ward I and II executives and village coordinators of IAPA.
