An Aide to the Akwa Ibom State Governor,
Hon. Mbuotidem Affia has reiterated the resolve of Gov Udom Emmanuel's
administration in turning around the fortune of the state, adding that
amongst other developmental strides of the governor, Sports development
has remained one of the key areas of focus.
The governor's aide said this during the Finales of the Inter-house Sports competition organized by Ikono Annang Comprehensive High School , Etim Ekpo L.G.A., penultimate Friday.
Affia, who was the Patron of Red House (the overall winning House at the competition ) noted that, the administration of his boss has brought unprecedented development in sporting acilities in the state, citing the ongoing building and facilitation of Mini Sports stadium in each of the Federal Constituencies of the state, sponsoring of sporting activities outside the state as well as boosting the Sports Ministry in the state to reposition it for optimal performance.
The Insurance Guru, however, called on schools in the state to domesticate sports and other recreational activities as part of their curriculum, saying that, sports is nowadays the most lucrative professions in the world.
The EtimEkpo born politician, who donated a set of sports Jerseys, sporting kits and one hundred thousand naira to the school, also urged youths of the area to remain steadfast in their support for the administration of Gov. Udom Emmanuel beyond 2019, describing the the governor as a rare instrument for effective governance.
In a related development, the governor's aide had during the funeral service in honour of late Bishop (Dr.) Udoessien organized by Messengers of Christ Coming Ministry, Ikot Edet, Etim Ekpo L.G.A. presented condolences to the bereaved family.
In his condolence letter, Affia urged the family to take solace in the fact that the deceased was a true man of God, a Bishop , Founder of God's Church and a Teacher of the gospel of Christ who had left a great legacy to be bequeathed by the family members.
He advised the bereaved sons and daughters to close the vacuum created by the demise of their earthly father by imbibing his godly principles while he alive, stressing that, that was the only sure way to immortalize their late father's image.
Hon. Affia was accompanied to the occasion by the Leader of Ikono People's Assembly, Hon. Sir Luke P. Udom, stakeholders of Etim Ekpo, youths leaders amongst others.
