Basked in the euphoria of a promised delivered, the caretaker Committee Chairman of Eket Local Government, Hon. Frank Archibong has called on Akwaibomites not to reserve commendation and support for the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for keeping the promise of the 19.5km Eket- Ibeno road, which has claim the lives of many over the years.

Mr. Frank made this declaration during the official commissioning of Eket-Ibeno road Wednesday, by His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State to mark his 2 years in office.

In his goodwill message to the Governor and Government of Akwa Ibom state, he stated that the people were overwhelmed, seeing government keep to their campaign promise of remodelling and construction of the road to completion, 2years in office.

Archibong who doubles as the ALGON Chairman of Akwa Ibom state said the state of the road before, had spit on the face of the people with their produce in the rich confine of the Federal government and Multinational, who vehemently refused to hearken to the yearnings of the people in that regards.

He applauded his Excellency for putting the lean resources accrued to the state into the actualization of this project, when other states barely pay salaries; which is the greatest priority of every government.

“We owe the Governor a debt of gratitude for giving us a motor-able road to at least be evidence for our contribution to the growth of the economy of both the Federal and state government.

When they failed us, God sent Governor Emmanuel to heed our cry, he promised that the Eket people have made a decree “with Udom we stand till 2023” – Frank asserted.

In his address, the Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel said he was there to commission a project that spoke for itself.

He recounted that during the campaigns in the Federal constituency, after his encounter on the road , he made a promise that gone were those days the goose that lays the golden eggs will be forgotten.

The Governor said even in the face of recession, when other states cannot pay salaries, the Akwa Ibom state government under his watch don’t just pay salaries, but indulge in life changing projects in the likes of Eket-Ibeno Road, Jubilee Syringe Company, etc.

He however called on the Federal Government to make refunds to the state government for the construction of Eket-Ibeno road, which is supposed to fall under federal projects.
