A
political group in All Progressive Party (APC), the Real APC Movement
has reacted to the purported zoning of the candidate of the APC
candidate for 2019 Gubernatorial race to Eket Senatorial district.
Below is their press release:
The attention of the members of THE REAL APC MOVEMENT, AKWA IBOM STATE
has been drawn to a news item in the social media, purporting that "the
APC in Akwa Ibom state has zoned its governorship ticket in 2019 to Eket
Senatorial District".
Ordinarily, we would not have bothered ourselves to dignify such inanity with a response, but for the interest of the people of Akwa Ibom State whom the architects of that silly political calculation set out to mislead, this response is necessary.
THE REAL APC MOVEMENT (a political group within the APC in Akwa Ibom state) wishes to state as follows:
1. That the governorship ticket/position, etc of APC in Akwa Ibom state come 2019 is NOT ZONED to Eket Senatorial District, and is never zoned to any section of the State for that matter;
2. That at no time did the stakeholders and especially, the founding fathers of APC in the state sit down to discuss the issue of zoning of governorship ticket or any other ticket to a particular section or sections of the state;
3. That those who purportedly did that are not speaking for APC in the State. In fact, the attendance list shows that the so called meeting of APC that birthed their purported zoning was merely attended by PDP decampees and two greedy party executives in recent memory (Dr. Amadu Atai and Effiong Etok), and desparately sponsored by Nsima Ekere;
4. That the purported zoning or decision to zone was rushed, and consultations not done, and founding fathers of APC in the State viz; Senator John Udoedehe, Group Captain Sam Enwang, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong, etc were not consulted, and were not in the said meeting, hence, the zoning is a product of conspiracy, haste and warpped reasoning by desperate political tourists, hence, it is NULL and VOID and of no effect whatsoever;
5. That the governorship position in Akwa Ibom state, vis-à-vis APC is opened to all, irrespective of senatorial district. APC in Akwa Ibom state cannot key into the PDP ideology, (of course those who wish to do so are still breathing the air of PDP - hence, the need to disregard them and their selfish political move);
6. We wish to call on all governorship aspirants in our great party (APC) to continue to mobilize their supporters and get ready for the party's primary in 2018.
