 Ibaka Deep Sea Port

By Clement Ikpatt

Just for the records Clement; let me help us through the Akwa Ibom model: AKSG swung into action with 3critical Technical Committees to drive IDSP(Ibaka Deep Sea Port),Food Sufficiency and Agriculture and Foreign Direct Investments within 30days of resumption. Went ahead to ensure upgrade of existing 190MW with the applaudable 685MW license we currently have for Phase 2 of Ibom Power.

With the attractiveness of captive power we have the entire Ikot Abasi belt waiting to be decorated with the Industrial parks and Agric processing initiatives. These alone have great potential to increase jobs by 2,500-4,500 so dust up your CV bro!

As much as it's welcome to get excited over news bits coming from China and trying solely to compare or to ask what Nigerias stake is in that regard(like seriously?)

Let me quickly share that Chinas model and KSF(Key Success Factor) has been multiple small factory production approaches and expansive agricultural cultivation and production.

Today in Akwa Ibom different factories are at varying levels of production; the aim is to meet local demand, create jobs and ramp up the local economy right before our export windows(Deepsea Port and Cargo facility is completed at the Ibom airport)

So if you look closely and listen in you'd see positioning of factories like Peacock Paints focusing on anti corrosion Industrial paints more ,Dekan Toothpick and Pencil factory,LED lighting,Metering and Syringe factories currently underway etc

On the agriculture and food sufficiency side; find massive cassava cultivation across the state with Feyrep firmly in the driving seat,a 2million stand Coconut plantation is vigorously pursued(about 200,000cultivated so far) our Oil Palm plantations are being revived,The hatchery is being constantly upgraded, meat and milk production is being exploited via the proposed ranch, vegetable cultivation is at an all time high,Cocoa is budding, etc

Even as food production is encouraged, many of our sons are busy due to the Dakadda philosophy and might not have the time for Cyber macabre dances or Attention seeking jamborees. 3 Cassava processing facilities are helping our farmers churn garri, etc

Road network is dedicated to viable and producing areas even as we try to balance the political.

Back to China, the South of China boasts of over a dozen ports and yes there are ports being promoted in Gabon,Angola,Cameroon and even Equatorial Guinea asides the Nigerian attempts at Lagos and Calabar.

The Ibom Industrial City itself is designed to take about 3-4jetties from Mbo to Ikot Abasi and possesses peculiarities in draft, ocean access and ancillary support.

These Port Investments like the mega Ocean Terminal promoted by Port Nortel has advanced magnificently within the 2years of this administration and would be ripe by the time the Federal Government lends expeditious approvals and support.

The business of Investment promotion should be handled by sound minds who understand the nitty gritty of Business development, finance, trade and investments ; this whole idea of failed restauranteurs, diaspora cab operators or cyber bullies being recruited to man Diaspora desks should never have happened in the first instance!

Akwa Ibom is definitely on track and we hope the right people help galvanize and catalyze these traction to the benefit of our people!!!
