The Chairman, Council of Oro Traditional Rulers (COTR) and the
Paramount Ruler of Mbo Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Ovong
(Hon.) Edet Okon Isemin has commended the late Grand Patriarch of Oro
ethnic group, His Royal Majesty, Ahta Bassey Andem Ibok, Ahta Oro VI and
Paramount Ruler of Okobo Local Government Area, for his selfless
services and contributions to the development of his community, describing him as a royal father whose legacy would remain indelible.
Ovong lsemin who stated this when he led members of the Council of Oro Traditional Rulers, the kingmakers of Oro patriarchsm to declare open the mourning house/condolence register in honour of the late monarch at the palace in Obufi, Okobo described the late Ahta Bassey Ibok as a visionary royal father whose values would never be forgotten.
He said the life of late Ahta Oro VI "was all about service to Oro people and humanity".
The COTR Chairman, who described the departed monarch as a very simple and honest man, commended the patriotic role the late Ahta Oro played in the Oro rejection of a new alignment of the East-West road from Oron to Calabar.
Ovong Isemin, however prayed God and the ancestors to grant the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.
He used the opportunity to invite all sons and daughters of Oro, Akwa Ibomites and residents in Oro to the final rites of passage of the monarch, today, Friday, May 26, 2017 at Oron Sports Stadium by 10:00am
The Mbo Paramount Ruler, also used the opportunity to appeal to the political class of Oro Nation to think more about Oro than their personal interest.
" I want to appeal to the political class of today to think more about Oro, than their personal interest. They (Politicians): don't come near our community leaders, our village heads, clan heads and traditional rulers to interact with them.
Oro interest should be paramount. So this is a very strong appeal to them that they should think about Oro first, before individual interest ", Ovong Edet Isemin stated.
