Today the University of Uyo emerged winners of the 2018 PetroQuiz Competition for Petroleum Engineering Students at the 16th Students Technical Symposium and Exhibition in Abuja.
The competition which was held at the Nile University, Abuja, saw the University of Uyo Team emerge victorious in the tourney which had over 30 universities in participation.
The University of Uyo team was represented by Israel Umana, Destiny Amanze, Prosper Nekekpemi, Uwemedimo Usà and Dominic Emmanuel, led by Engr Isemin Isemin, Faculty Advisor, Department of Petroleum Engineering.
The University of Uyo team defeated University of Portharcourt and the University of Ibadan in the quater-finals and semi-finals, respectively, before routing the Federal University of Technology, Owerri in the finals to lift the trophy.
The victorious team will now proceed to represent Nigeria in Texas, USA, at the World PetroQuiz Tourney.
This is the second time the University of Uyo has won the competition in two years, after the team lifted the trophy on home turf in 2017.
