The Supreme Court of Nigeria this morning fixed April 10 for the judgement on the pre-election matters in Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District involving a former House of Representative Member and the winner of the 2014 primary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Bassey Etim and the embattled Senator Bassey Albert Akpan.
This was sequel to the auguement on a motion filed by the embattled Senator this morning by the apex court where the both parties adopted their briefs of argument in Abuja.
The tussle have been ongoing right from 2015, when Elder Etim felt cheated by his party, the PDP who had substituted his name as the winner of the senatorial primary in the district with that of Mr Bassey Albert, who was until the senatorial primary, a governorship aspirant on the same platform.
Federal High Court 2, in Uyo presided by Justice Fatun Riman decided on February last year that Elder Bassey Etim be sworn in immediately by the leadership of the National Assembly, having been a duly nominated candidate of the party.
He also ordered the embattled Senator Albert to refund all the salaries and allowance received illegally to the coffer of the National Assembly, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a fresh certificate of return to Etim. INEC has since complied with the directive.

The supporters of Etim has continuously believe that the apex court will right the wrongs and ensure that impunity carried out by the PDP after the party’s nomination in 2014, by wrongfully substituted the winner of the primary, Elder Bassey Etim with that of Mr Bassey Albert who was not a senatorial aspirant is corrected.
Tension has serious mounted in the camp of the embattled Senator Albert, thereby forcing them to thrive on many lies of the judgement being deferred to October 29, 2018. Just last week, Albert and his cronnies were enmeshed in lies and fabrication about endorsement by Uyo senatorial district students and the chapter chairmen of PDP in the district which were..
