Zechariah 4:6 KJV
“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts”.
I can boldly say that all the blunders and mistakes of our lives are all connected to one wrong move or the other as a result of trying to get things done without God. When you try to use your skill, strength and connections to accomplish things without clearing from God, your life may move several years backward without you knowing.
When you make decisions without consulting the Lord about them; it amounts to doing things with your power. Just because it is doable does not mean it must be done at this time. When you just jump at an idea simply because you have the resources to get it done, without asking the Lord, then you are operating by might and power. The availability of means and resources has ruined many lives and homes. If you didn’t have the money for that endeavor you would have prayed to God for direction. But since the money was on ground, you opted for the surgery, or purchase or business deal etc. Many lives are yet to recover for trusting in their strengths, resources or connections.
Let David be your example. He fought sixty-six battles and never lost any. The reason is because he never depended on his strength, skill or experience. Just because you killed Goliath the other day does not mean victory is always at your beck and call; you must always depend on God. Severally, David would ask the Lord “should I go, should I pursue them, should I fight with the Philistines, will they betray me? ...”. And each time God had an answer for him; answers that saved his life and delivered him from so many loses and failures. Decide to stop doing things by your strength or experience. Lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path, in Jesus Name.
