2 Samuel 11:2-4 KJV
“And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house”.
Yesterday we dealt with the subject of iniquity and we saw how the spirit of iniquity passed down from Judah all the way to David. It should be known that one person’s wrong doing can generate an Iniquity that could be experienced by an entire next generation. Iniquities originates from patriarchs and matriarchs, and everyone is a patriarch or potential patriarch. Abraham denied his wife and accepted that she was his sister. Very many years later, Isaac came on the scene and did the exact same thing his father did.
It is crucial that you observe and note the things that confronted, defeated and frustrated your father, and be on the look out to make sure that you don’t get beaten by the same spirit. After Judah slept with Tamar in Genesis 38, he lost his scepter in the process, and as such he could not fulfill his prophetic destiny by reigning as king in Israel. So, judges had to rule for 400 years until the tenth generation which fell on David. When David became king, he was confronted by the spirit or devil that ruined his father. He refused to go to war, and then saw a naked woman bathing. He lost control of himself and slept with her, and that began a downward slope for David.
The spirit of David’s ancestor Judah, came after him and he couldn’t handle it. That was the spirit that frustrated his father, and denied him from reigning as king amongst his brethren. And now it was David’s turn. It is my observation that you may have to fight what fought your father someday, but you will win in Jesus Name. If your father failed, then know that the enemy wants you to fail just about the same way he failed. What rendered your mother useless would want to attempt you as well. Be strong, be sober, be vigilant, be watchful, be prayerful, be upright, be diligent; and you will escape in Jesus Name.
