Kim Jong-hyun, 27, the lead singer of top South Korean boy band, SHINee, who 'killed himself' with carbon monoxide due to 'loneliness and depression', has been laid to rest today.
The 27-year-old K-Pop star was found unconscious in a flat in the upscale Gangnam district in Seoul earlier this week, and later died at a Seoul hospital on Monday.
Six of K-pop's biggest stars carried the coffin of their fellow singer as weeping fans lined in the street to pay their last respect to the singer.
Kim's body was carried out and taken away to the funeral, held privately at an undisclosed location.
The procession was led by one of Kim's bandmates from SHINee, bearing a plaque reading 'Kim Jong-Hyun, believer', followed by his sister carrying a picture of Kim. His remains were carried three other SHINee members and three from Super Junior, another boyband managed by the same agency, SM Entertainment.
Dozens of prominent K-pop stars in the Industry were also present, to bid the star farewell.
Before his death, the late singer dropped a suicide note with his close friend, musician Nine9, which she released on her Instagram account.
Acccording to her, Kim asked her to publish the message in the event of his death.
'I am broken from inside. The depression that gnawed on me slowly has finally engulfed me entirely,' it said, adding he 'couldn't defeat it anymore'.
'I was so alone. The act of ending is difficult. I've lived until now because of that difficulty.'

Meanwhile, Seoul police said it seemed 'certain' that Kim's death was a suicide, adding they planned to close the case without an autopsy as requested by his family.
