Matthew 19:4-5 KJV
“And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh”?
There are many things that make marriages fail, but I will be discussing one of them today in a point by point manner. Take your pen, note book and make relevant points of your own. Wrong family blending is our focus today.
WRONG FAMILY BLENDING
It should be understood that each time a marriage takes place, two families automatically get blended into each other, beyond the two main actors in the marriage. It is something we cannot pretend about.
Therefore, there has to be a balanced form of blending. The way the marriage blends, determines its success or failure. Here are a few reasons why you must blend properly.
i. There has been more time spent with each person’s family than with spouse; so, there will always be plenty of sentiments. As a result of this fact, you cannot show any kind of hostility towards your spouse's family. You have to find a way to love your spouse's family the best you can. The reason is because they have enormous powers over and with your spouse, and you cannot ignore that fact.
ii. In the event where your spouse's family is hostile to you, you must tread carefully. Because your spouse still has their ears and they still have his or her ears too.
iii) Seek the interest and welfare of your in-laws: Remind your spouse of things that should be done for his or her family. Initiate things of goodwill for your spouse's family.
iv) Your spouse most likely trusts their family more than they trust you. (This is a fact). So, try not to put your spouse on the spot to have to choose between you and them. Rather win your spouse’s trust gradually.
If you must see real Peace in your home then you must have great respect for your spouse’s family regardless of what goes down or up.

Assignment
i. Look into the blend between your family and that of your spouse and see if there are things you can correct.
ii. Apologize where necessary for any kind of insensitivity you may have shown in this area in the past.
Prayer
-Lord I receive the wisdom for a balanced family blending today in Jesus Name.
-I receive the grace to implement the points mentioned in today’s message in Jesus Name.
