2 Corinthians 5:10-11 KJV
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences”.
One of the reasons why believers are lazy about Evangelism is the fact that we do not know the terror of the Lord. Most believers do not know what it feels like to appear before the Lord of all the earth. Many don’t know that mercy has two expiry dates; the first being the day a man dies and appears before God. That day, mercy ends, because death is the end of mercy for any individual. The second expiry date of Mercy is when Jesus returns Himself, which is the end of time. At that time, mercy also expires. When we appear before Him in death or upon His return, we will not be standing before the God of mercy and grace but before the consuming fire and Judge of all the earth. Because it is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgement, (Hebrews 9:27).
God has previously given people the privilege of seeing hell fire itself in visions and trances, and they have given all kinds of accounts of their experiences, and many of them agree with each other. The account of the rich man who treated Lazarus unfairly is a typical example. In hell he pleaded profusely that Lazarus be sent to warn his loved once, so they wouldn’t end up where he found himself. Imagine that a man in hell did not want anyone else to experience hell itself. This means he became compassionate in hell. That was exactly why Paul said “knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade men”.
I encourage you to carry out a little study of hell and life after death in general. You will find out that it burns with Sulphur as its fuel, and not gas or wood. Find out about the worms that do not die; worms that would perpetrate your skins and do maximum damage despite the fire. Find out how long eternity is, because it will burn forever.\
Get to know as much as you can so your heart can burn with compassion for those who do not know the Lord.
Receive grace to persuade men in Jesus Name.
Assignment
i. Make a list of people you are going to persuade against going to hell today.
ii. Spend time to pray for as many stubborn friends, colleagues and neighbours you know.
Prayer
-Lord please fill my heart with compassion for those heading to hell in Jesus Name.
-Lord I break the yoke of unbelief from the lives of these people on my list in Jesus Name.
-I forbid them from a destiny in hell in Jesus Name.
