THE LAST WORDS
Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe
all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the
end of the age.” Amen.”
In the course of a man’s life, he gets to say a lot of things,
some of which may be important and some less important. But the wisest people
reserve the best for the last. There are various reasons why the best or most
important comes last; one of which is for emphasis sake. It is a way of
highlighting a matter above all that has been said. The second reason is for
the purpose of memory. When a man doesn’t want you to forget a thing, he makes
sure he keeps it for the last or repeats it as often as he can. Lastly, last
words convey matters that are very dear to the heart of the speaker.
Jesus didn’t have long to stay on earth. He came on a mighty but
brief mission. So, He had to mostly speak in parables, because they could covey
a lot of messages in fee words or short stories. In fact, there came a time
when He didn’t speak except in a parable. That was a way of showing us how
little the time He had was. Thus, it is amazing to see that within the short
time He had, He came, lived, did great things, died and resurrected. And just
before He left, finally He gave these last words as we see in our text. He said
“make disciples of all nations”. Which simply means “make me followers from all
nations”.
If this is true, and I know it is, it therefore means that Jesus
will first demand for our disciples upon our arrival in heaven. We are not just
to witness to get people saved, but we are to teach or train them till they
become disciples. Which means that they are to be taught till they can train
others as well. This is our greatest assignment on earth, and that is why it is
called the great commission. All that God has done, is doing and will ever do
for you, is to make you an effective soul winner and ‘discipler’ for Him. That
is why the ‘great commission’ was His last words. Do not frustrate destiny and
heavens expectations in Jesus Name. Win souls and disciple them.
Assignment
i. Ask God for grace to be conscious of lost souls and how to help them.
I. Ask God for grace to be at the right place at the right time.
iii. Ask God for the grace to say the right things at the right time.
Prayer
-Lord I repent for being insensitive to the lost.
-Lord I know your heart is where lost souls are; please help me satisfy your
heart.
-Make me conscious of souls, put me at the right place at the right time, and
give me the right words to say per time in Jesus Name.
Nugget
All that God has done, is doing, and will ever do for you, is to make you an
effective soul winner and ‘discipler’ for Him.
