The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel says plans are in top gears for the foundation laying ceremony for an lnternational Worship Centre in Uyo next year.
The event billed for January 21, 2018 will take place at the proposed project site behind the Banking Layout, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
The 10,000 capacity facility which will be elegant in simplicity, according to the Governor, is to serve strictly as a worship centre.
This much was disclosed by Governor Udom Emmanuel at the Le Meridien Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo during an interactive session with top christian leaders in the state.
He said the mentality and attitude of the people must be driven towards entrepreneurship stressing that the bedrock of eliminating poverty is for the people to go back to the things that are economy-driven.
On the question of poverty eradication, the Governor identified the economy as the foundation and declared that the state government is working vigorously to build a strong economy.
The Governor had these words for the Men of God. "Your priesthood is not complete until it backs a king. Even in the Bible, there is no king anywhere that does not have the backing of a Priest. The voice of a Christian is needed even as much as the prayers".
He enjoined the people to go into governance to show that no nation, tribe or race has monopoly of Him that He has touched Europe, America and Asia that Africa should not be an exception.
Governor Emmanuel encouraged Christians to ensure that they have the power to vote through voter’s card and be conscious of the fact that they also have the power to chat a direction for the state to go.
He assured the people that ambulance services will soon be available, but stressed that the secondary health care institutions must first be on the right position.
The Governor said he was doing his best and will still do more for the benefit of the state with the available resources and called on the church to exert its influence on the society and not to allow it happen otherwise.
