Daily Success! Love is More Than Chemistry - Ezekiel Atang

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;”

We hear the word "chemistry" a whole lot these days with regards to marriages and relationship. 

Whereas, back in time, we often heard the word ‘chemistry’ in the classrooms. Love is now equated to what people feel about each other. But this has been proven wrong a thousand times over. If love is chemistry alone, then there should be no divorces any more. Because we have seen that divorce is higher among those who once had very strong and explosive chemistry. Such that one time inseparable and passionate friends become almost mortal enemies.
 

The reason is, they have viewed love only from the chemistry point of view. So, when their partners begin to show their flaws and failures, they become so frustrated and want to end the marriage. Well, the fact is, love is seen and known in rough weather and not just in fair weather. You do not truly love a person whose faults and failures you have not come to know. If your love fails in hard times or in the midst of challenges, then it was just chemistry and not deep-seated love.

According to our text, love begins when challenges show up. That is why the first quality of love is long suffering or patience. This is what is called enduring love. This means that chemistry is not the real love but an invitation to love. The act of loving, truly begins in the face of failures, mistakes and wrong doings. This applies to many other relationships as well and not just to marriage. Your ability to endure and be patient is the true measure of your love.

-Lord please teach me love beyond the feelings and chemistry in Jesus Name.
