It twas a tale of woe, agony and pain for some traders at Akpan Andem market this morning when bulldozers, said to be hired by the team of Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), demolished structures and shops at the market.
Traders affected by the exercise lamented that they were not informed of the demolition of their structures and shops.
The victims who spoke with this reporter, counted their loses, saying that they have about 3 years rent paid to landlords of the demolished structures.
Some traders were seen gathering their scattered belongings, while scavengers were seen scampering for destroyed roofing aluminium sheets, iron rods and other scraps.
The Transition Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Barr. Mfon Ben in an interview, said the council were not informed about the exercise.
