Since
H.E.Obong Nsima Ekere ventured into the murky waters of Nigerian politics over
two decades ago,he has been betrayed, deceived, blackmailed, lied against,
sabotaged and abused on so many occasions by all manners of people, those he
chose to trust, take into confidence and those who chose to antagonise him.
But
he has always survived and overcome his traducers and over the years, his skin
and mind have got thickened. From the day he was appointed as the Chief
Executive Officer of the NDDC, he has been the sole object of inane, vicious
and malicious attacks from one quarter but through many paid fronts .
The valid
question is:Why Nsima Ekere?????.The answer is not far fetched. He is the only
person with the required capacity, wherewithal, network, structure, goodwill
and popularity from the present inept government in the state. So, the attacks
on him is a panicky measure by someone who is afraid of facing him at the
polls. Rather than showcase a scorecard, his lackeys are committing public
funds to to check the emergence of credible challenge.
The
government is also sponsoring, directing and instigating campaign of calumny on
Nsima Ekere to distract public attention from its cluelessness, ineptitude and
failure to deliver democracy dividends to the people of the state. But we are
not distracted. No amount of vicious attacks on Nsima Ekere by paid agents of
the State Government would take away the fact that this government doesn't have
any scorecard to show more than two years of its four year tenure. We wouldn't
be distracted from asking the government to show us the locations of the 17
bridges, over 700km of roads, the second runway of the airport, over 350 rural
development projects and other phoney projects purportedly executed by this
administration .
I am
aware that an organisation was commissioned quietly to conduct opinion poll
across the state in the light of the dismal failure of the present
administration. The result of the poll indicated that Nsima Ekere-on the firm
basis of pedigree, integrity, experience, understanding of governance,
practicable ideas, thoughts and blueprint for the development of the state,
political sagacity and dexterity, knowledge of the people and politics of the
state, is the most favoured and preferred among the electorate of the state for
the governorship of the state come 2019, even when he has not declared interest
in the race.
In
the wake of the revealing poll, the ever rising profile, popularity and
goodwill of Nsima Ekere among the elemctorate of the state and the ineptitude
and cluelessness of the government, vitriolic attacks are being launched
against him. The government has commissioned its lackeys to set up local
tabloids to be used as platforms to wage media attacks against the former
deputy governor of the state.
There's virtually no week that you wouldn't see
some local tabloids publishing all manners of hogwash against him. The aim is
to cast doubt on his integrity, which he has in inexhaustible supply and pit
him against the people of the state. It can be safely concluded that he is a
man of strong moral character .
The desperation by paid agents of the state
government to dent his image would be fruitless. The government is therefore
advised to commit public funds to projects that can add value to the welfare and
wellbeing of the people.
Despite
sustained antagonism by paid agents of the state government calculated to
distract him from his job, he has remained focused in leading the Commission to
deliver on its core mandate to fast track the development of the sub region.
The era of abandoned and uncompleted projects of the commission is gone. He has
attracted many projects to the state.
The
reality is that as a seasoned, accomplished and well groomed professional and
administrator, Nsima Ekere is the epitome of political correctness, fitness and
cordiality. .His friendly inter-personal relations even with his political
competitors is unusual, as well as it is ennobling.
It's
assuring that election in the state will be run based on issues and not on name
calling and character assassination. If the present governor is desirous of
retaining the seat, he must campaign on his scorecard. He must show the people
of the state the locations of the 17 bridges, over 700km of roads, the second
runway of the airport, over 350 rural development projects purportedly executed
by the administration .
Sponsoring
media attacks on Nsima Ekere is an act of pettiness and laziness. It shows the
emptiness of the government
