Each and every one of us have our own definition of what being compassionate really means, and the first-step is simply paying attention to the needs and the feelings of others and the rest will follow naturally.

Compassion is when we start to notice and empathize with someone who feels troubled and is in great distress and strive to ease and lessen their pain. I have come to realize that this is an honest, sincere and genuine quality that Speaker Onofiok Luke possess.

Speaker Luke that I know has in varying degrees, shown humility, humbleness in everything he does, most especially by identifying himself with the poor, rich, needy, widows youths name it.....without showing up that he is the number three man in the state.

I remember once we went for a function and after the event we were given where to sit for refreshments , The People's Speaker came in and sat with us and he ordered for his own share to be served right there and he eat along with us, an attitude which the list person in our Local Government such as ward Chairman can not do, talk less of our pastor and that is Onofiok Luke for you a simple man to the core.

What am I trying to say here... Eating corn in the public should not be an issue or showing us that our number three man in the state is trying to compete with our Governor in anyway as one poster on Facebook claimed but it is a clear definition of humility personified... He is showing us that before he became Speaker, he was an ordinary man like me and you, that after political office he will return to the people .

He is not like some political office holders they see themselves as small gods but once they leave office they can no longer move freely on the street or talk in the public, why?Just because of their stupid lifestyle while in office.

But our speaker is not like that. Our people says.. Ebono kutom kutom eno owo . So our speaker is trying his best to support the present administration to succeed and to also achieve all his campaign promises.

He has been doing what he knows how to do best for years..now. Sometimes he only stop by to put a helping hand for those sellers by giving them cash as a way of empowering them after paying for what he and others had consumed. I am a witness,So let's allow him continue living his simple life style.

A responsible human beings would certainly agree with me that if we have 10 of Onofiok Luke's in our state, poor people, widows and less privileged people would have been touched by caring & loving souls like him.

Rather than practising pulling down of our brother we should cultivate more of Onofiok Luke's quality, it would help atone in part for our past mistakes, for the unkind, judgmental and downright mean treatment of others.

Our posts and writeup on social media should Help someone to see the brighter side of things when they are feeling down and not the other way round..

As a writer, an unconditional & loyal reporter to all the good people in Akwa Ibom ,most especially "ono owo Udia ye mkpo 1#speaker Onofiok Luke #I try always to emulate him by taking effort in noticing when someone is feeling down. Some-times, just a simple & kind word can make all the difference and lift their spirits tremendously.

Even when I might not be able to provide solutions to their problems, what I do for them is to show support and concern, by bring their matter on line (social media) and part of the problem is solved if not totally settled.

So.. For me, Speaker Luke did not do a bad thing by stopping to patronize corn sellers. As people we should stop being harshly for perceiving others shortcomings and we should be less judgmental and stop the syndrome of pulling others down because it will never make us popular.

Onofiok Luke I know is an humble gentleman. An epitome of loyalty anytime, any day. If you are a good picture interpreter you can see the inner image of this picture below. His loyalty to the authorities is second to none, let the eyes that sees look and the ear hears , I rest my case.

Victoria Anietie is now my name...
