Oro House
was agog yesterday with beautiful displays of Oro's gorgeous colors as
the jubilant crowd pulsated to the rhythm of backbending cultural
songs. One of the songs says, “oy’onu unyi k’oruobot, oy’onu unyi.”
Indeed, a child is wealth in the world! Oron Union Lagos Branch had an
opportunity to celebrate one of her sons who, true to the wording of
the song, has proven to be an invaluable wealth to Oro.
The celebration
of Col. J. J. Eduoku was a deserving gesture of gratitude for the role
played by the veteran in ensuring the current stability of Oron Union
Lagos Branch. Following the differences which kept the branch in a coma
for some time, it was imperative for the house to be put in order.
This
necessity informed the decision by the stakeholders under the able
leadership of the ever discerning President General of Oron Union
Worldwide, Chief (Dr.) Edunam to go shopping for the Moses that would
lead Oron Union Lagos Branch to the promised land of peaceful elections.
Without hesitation, the
Patriotic Oro Colonel responded to the call and conducted the most
peaceful and credible election in the history of the branch.
The current achievements and stability of the branch are traceable to Col. J.J. Eduoku, who selflessly responded to the clarion call to serve Oro.
As a Divine reward for his love for Oro, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel in the Nigerian Army almost within the same timeframe. This was another monumental milestone worthy communal celebration!
It was, therefore, with heartful of appreciation, joy and solidarity that Oron Union Lagos Branch led by the performing President, Prince Offong Ntofon elected to celebrate this rare gift to Oro nation.
Those in attendance included the PG, Dr. Edunam, Chief A. A. Okpo, who was the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. E. Ekuwem, Chief Une, to mention but a few.
The role and contributions of Col. J.J. Eduoku in fostering a new Oron Union Lagos Branch shall remain indelible in Oron Union’s hall of fame, just as our love and prayers for him shall remain unquenchable. We appreciate those who turned up to celebrate this illustrious Oro Son.
