Sports journalists in Akwa Ibom state under the umbrella of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) have expressed their strong resolve to garner massive support for the Super Eagles as the team takes on South Africa tomorrow in Uyo in an African nations cup cracker.

Rising from a pre-match congress of SWAN in Uyo on Thursday evening, the body led by Comrade Solomon Bassey urged all football lovers nationwide to fill the main bowl of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday so as to show massive solidarity to the Eagles while urging all sports journalists in media houses across the country to give greater publicity to the team.

He called specifically on football fans across the state to come out en masse and cheer the team to victory with the same zeal they have been showing to the state darling team, Akwa United.

Also speaking, the secretary of the Akwa Ibom State council, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Amos Etuk appealed to the media unit of the Nigeria Football Federation to make available enough tags for journalists in the state who are billed to cover the match.

Johnpaul Ukpong, a sports presenter with the state owned television station (AKBC TV) urged the Nigerian Football Federation to collaborate effectively with the game's Local Organizing Committee regulated by the Akwa Ibom State Football Association for a hitch-free encounter.

According to Aniekan Udosen of Atlantic FM Sports, tickets for the match would be on sale this morning (Friday, 9th June) from 7am at all designated banks in Uyo and at the Hotel Le Meridien.
