The member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom
State House of Assembly, Hon. Otobong Ndem has advised beneficiaries of
his training/empowerment programme to use the opportunity wisely.
He gave the advice on Wednesday during the presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries at the Mkpat Enin local government council headquarters.
Hon Ndem said that cheques were for beneficiaries of the financial empowerment while beneficiaries of the skills acquisition will receive their starter pack in the next six months.
"For those of you who are in various vocational training centers, you have six months to collect your starter pack".
He stressed that the 168 beneficiaries were carefully selected from all the 87 villages that make up the local government area.
"To be sincere, I don't know most of these beneficiaries because they are selected across all the 87 villages in Mkpat Enin".
He pointed out that selection was not on political parties, but on merit since he represents the entire constituency in the State Assembly.
"What I am doing today is to confirm that once you are elected into office, you no longer represent a party but the people".
He used the opportunity to solicit for support and corporation for the present administration led by Deacon Udom Emmanuel, saying that the Governor has good intentions for the LGA.
"We have every reason to support the Governor and the party. In just two years, the Governor has completed two good roads and has awarded construction of other roads in the area".
On her part, the Chairperson of the Local Government Transition Committee, Lady Ekaette Usip commended Hon Otobong Ndem for fulfilling his promises of training the youths in various skills.
She said Mkpat Enin did not make mistake by voting him to be their representative in the state legislature
She advised the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the local government in their training centers, saying that they were privileged to be selected for the training.
Other stakeholders who spoke during the event commended Hon. Otobong Ndem on his empowerment programme for the people of Mkpat Enin State Constituency.
Present at the event were the Transition Committee Chairman, Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, Lady Ekaette Usip; former member, AKHA, Rt. Hon Udobong Ekpo; former caretaker chairman, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Hon. Ubong Inyang; former PDP chapter chairmen, Hon. Nkereuwem Akai and Chief Friday Ayara among others.
