Since the resumption of office by Rt. Hon.(Elder) Aniekan Uko as the
member representing the good people of Ibesikpo Asutan State
Constituency on the 8th day of June 2015, he has justified the
confidence reposed on him by the people of his Constituency as well as
fulfilled his campaign promises.
As a grassroot politician, he
has justified the mandate of his people by living in the village which
has really drawn him closer to his people, a feat his people described
as unprecedented and first in the history of past representatives.
In law making, he has remained a cerebral and vocal voice in the 6th
assembly considering his bills, motions as well as his contributions to
matters brought before the house for deliberations.
In keeping to
his bond to the people, Elder Uko as a grass root politician has
made himself accessible to the people thereby attending to their
immediate challenges.
He has maintained a constantly open door
policy to everyone irrespective of the political divide which has really
elevated his trust from his constituency.
Aniekan Uko has made it a
must attend to invitations extended to him for occassions by the people
of his constituency whenever the need arises.
CONSTITUENCY BRIEFINGS
For the two years of his stay in office as member representing Ibesikpo
Asutan State Constituency, he has done justice by holding constituency
briefings once every year.
Aniekan Uko's first six (6) months
in office precisely on the 26th of December,2015, he held his first
constituency briefing which was flagged off by the State Chief
Executive, His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel and the following were doled
out to his constituents.
* 8 Toyota Corolla Saloon Cars
* 2 nos. SUV Lexus 330 Jeeps
* 1 no. Toyota Camry ("Big for Nothing")
* 20 nos. Brand New Motorcycles
*Cash Donations.
His second Constituency Briefing was in December 26th, 2016 where he
provided N2.5 Million starter packs of N50,000 each to fifty women
across the ten(10) wards of his constituency to commence Stock-fish
trade as well as cash donation to fete his people on Christmas.
EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMES
As part of his empowerment scheme,10 women across the 10 wards were
empowered with hairdryers, generators and other hairdressing facilities
to start up their hairdressing business.
Another ten(10) women, one
(1) from each of the ten wards were made fashion house owners with
complete sewing facilities through his wife Evangelist (Mrs.)Ememobong
Aniekan Uko("IBOROAKAM" Life Enhancement Programme.)
Many students within and outside his constituency has benefitted from his education scholarship scheme which is still ongoing.
Elder Aniekan Uko has brighten the lives of the people of his State
Constituency by providing five(5) electricity transformers to villages
that hitherto lived in pepertual darkness such as:
1 . Atai Nung Oku Ibesikpo Community.
2. Afaha Ikot Obio Nkan Community.
3. Ikot Obio Ofong Community.
4.Mbikpong Ikot Edim Community.
5.Owut Uta Ibesikpo Community.
CONSTITUENY PROJECTS
Being one of the benefits expected of a lawmaker by the people of his
constituency, Hon.Aniekan Uko has done justice to fair distribution of
his constituency projects across his Local Government Area as follows:
* Building of Utra-Modern City Centre at Mbikpong Ikot Edim(99% Completion)
Building of Ultra-Modern Health -Care centre at Nung Udoe Ibesikpo.(60% Completion)
Provision of Portable water project(Solar)at Ndikpo Atang.(95% Completion)
*Building of 4 Classrooms Block at Primary School Akpan Utong.
*Renovation of a 4 classroom block at Primary School Mbierebe Obio.
LAWMAKING/OVERSIGHT FUNCTION
In law making, he has lived up to his billing. So far, he has seven(7)
motions to his credit and a bill which is at the verge of being passed
into law.
They are:
1. A motion on the need to make the
Teaching of Native languages compulsory in both Public and private
Primary and Secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State.
2. Motion
Against the unwholesome and alleged Fraudulent Charges on Electricity
Consumers in Akwa Ibom State by Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution
Company( PHEDC).
3. Motion on the need to Curb the Proliferation
of Petrol/Filling stations within Residential buildings and Places of
Public assembly.
4. Motion on the urgent need to Provide Road
Traffic Control Measures at Strategic Road Intersections and Junctions
in Akwa Ibom State.
5. Motion on Environmental Impact of Flood
water Evacuation from Uyo metropolis and its implications to the Health
and Economic Wellbeing of people in some communities in Ibesikpo Asutan
Local Government Area and Need for Intervention.
6. Motion on Displacement of Students of Asutan Ekpe Comprehensive Secondary School, Okop Ndua Erong.
7. A Private Member bill for a Law to make provision for Establishment
and Control of Private hospitals and other healthcare facilities in Akwa Ibom State
He has co-sponsored fourteen Bills which many have been passed into law.
Aniekan Uko singlehandedly opposed the #RealPropertyChargeBill in the floor of the house.
He leads the advocacy to immortalise reputable sons and daughters who
gave their all for the overall struggle towards a better Akwa Ibom
state.

Aniekan Uko's superlative performance as the mandate carrier of
Ibesikpo Asutan people has distinguished him for many meritorious awards
too numerous to mention including:
1. Best/Outstanding Lawmaker of the year 2016 award by Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Akwa Ibom State Council.
2. Africa Best Legislator of the Year 2016 award on Constituency
Empowerment by Pan-African Centre for Social Policy Reformations.
3. Distinguished Service Award 2016 by Peoples Democratic Party PDP- Akwa Ibom State Chapter.
His Lovely wife and Pillar of support Evangelist Mrs. Ememobong Aniekan
Uko despite her very challenging carrier as a Banker is not left behind
because of her passion for service to humanity and has touched many
women to be established in Farming, Trading and other businesses, She's
celebrated all over.
Her inspiring encouragements to charge the women to rise to the faith of greatness has end her a new name "MAMA CHARGE"
YOUTH EMPOWERMENT.
Rt. Hon Aniekan Uko has put machineries on ground for another Mega empowerment programme tagged " IbesikpoAsutan Youth Empowerment Scheme to be held December 2017.
