In a bid to further reduce youth oriented vices and engender discipline
among youths in the State, in line with the Dakkada Philosophy, Akwa
Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, through the Office of his Special
Assistant on Social Reorientation, has concluded plans to take the
Secondary School Tour, "The Making of Godly Champion" to Ikot Ekpene
Senatorial District.
Captioned "Think Right", the Tour is organised in collaboration with Gospel24/7 Media and Akwa Ibom Teenagers Forum and is slated for July 16, 2017 at State College, Ikot Ekpene, by 9am.
Speaking on the imperative of the programme, the Governor's Aide on Social Reorientation, Mr Ekpeno Gold, revealed that the Tour was aimed at reducing the high rate of thuggery, prostitution, examination malpractice and other social violence among youths in the State.
He said the current administration in the State under Governor Emmanuel is concerned about youth development and is worried about the high rate of crime in the State, saying the Tour is part of moves to sanitising the educational sector, while preparing the youths for a beautiful future.
Mr Gold maintained the Tour will be graced by Secondary School students across Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and will feature Peper Presentations by eminent personalities in the State, including the Commissioner for Education, Pastor Paul Udofia and his Information and Strategy Counterpart, Akparawa Charles Udoh.
It would be recalled that the Gospel Tour began with Uyo Senatorial District, at Community Secondary School, Aka Offot, Uyo, and had the Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Onion Luke, Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Mr Akan Okon and other Resource Persons delivery Keynote Lectures.
