Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has sacked the Transition
Committee Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Council, Barr. Abasiono
Udomfu and his Itu Local Government Counterpart, Mrs Elsie Esara.
In a Press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren, Governor Emmanuel has directed Heads of Service of the affected Local Government to take over the affairs of the Council, pending further directives.
The release read in parts, "His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has approved the dissolution of Ukanafun and Itu Local Government Transition Committees.
"Accordingly, the Heads of Service of the affected Local Government have been directed to take over the affairs of the Council, pending further directives."
It would be recalled that Barr. Udomfu was recently arrested by the Police, alongside his Aide, Akaninyene Ibout, over alleged connection with the murder of the late Ukanafun Council Secretary, Mr Ime Atakpa, popularly known as 'Strong', on Sunday, April 16, 2017.
Similarly, Mrs Esara may have been kicked out, following recent allegations involving the mismanagement of funds belonging to Itu Local Government Council.
While Ukanafun Local Governments Area have in recent times, been involved in deadly security breaches by hoodlums, Itu LGA has witnessed leadership crisis involving major stakeholders in the Area.
