Don't Let Your Eyes Deceive You II

‭1 Samuel‬ ‭17:4-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

“And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.

And the staff of his spear was like a weaver's beam; and his spear's head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.

And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.”

Goliath was a combination of things that were designed to intimidate anyone who saw him. But we have not been called to conclude by what we see, we have been called to conclude based on what the word of God says.

There are many kinds of Goliaths out there; ranging from the obstacles on the way to our goals and plans, to the report from the doctors, to the obvious symptoms in our bodies, to the evil report everywhere.

Let me state it as clearly as I can again, Goliath was not designed for strength, neither was he designed for battle per say; rather he was designed for the eyes; he was designed to intimidate and to weaken one's inner strength. Goliath did just that to the king and people of Israel.

Imagine the kind of things they gave him to wear, see the size of his spear, his sword and all. No serious person who wants to fight well would put all that weight on himself.

So, Goliath didn't come to fight, he came to intimidate and inject fear into people; all so that they would give up fighting.

However, David was not that kind that would be so easily made afraid and intimidated like that. He saw the weakness of Goliath, he saw the huge hollow inside Goliath, he saw beyond the facade and loud voice.

He saw an uncovenanted man, he saw a man too heavy to move. David saw a man too big for a fight, and above all, he saw the openings of his body.

Most importantly, David gauged Goliath against the power of God, and he saw that he didn't need a sword to fight him but a stone. He was not deceived by what he saw like the rest.

Grace to see beyond your eyes in Jesus Name.

Assignment/Prayer

-Ask God to open your spiritual eyes to see beyond the size of the enemy.

-Ask the Lord to kill every residue of fear in you in Jesus Name.

-Ask the Lord to give you a revelation of every problem; to see how really small the problem is in Jesus Name.

Nugget
We have not been called to conclude by what we see, we have been called to conclude based on what the word of God says.
