"Femi, you didn't have to shout at him. The young man has apologised. He didn't do it intentionally. Please let it go."
This is a side of her husband she hates to see, He has had a few
episodes like this in the past but not for something so trivial. The
coffee didn't even pour on him for crying out loud.
He was fuming furiously. Is it this serious?
They ate their breakfast in silence. It was awkward. This wasn't how
she imagined their first breakfast as husband and wife would be.
She had always imagined them holding hands across the table, giggling
like young lovers, feeding each other and "stealing" from each other's
plates.
At last, the gloomy breakfast is over!
Thank goodness.
Femi apologised to her for ruining breakfast, they forget about it and
go on to enjoy the rest of the day and their stay at the resort.
It was such a wonderful and relaxing experience.
They had lots of fun, from horse riding, to building sand castles and watching the sun set and the stars shine.
They didn't want it to end, but they had their real lives to get back to.

"Sweetheart, I'm home."
"Welcome honey, I'm in the kitchen, dinner is almost ready."
Femi just got home after a hectic day. He goes in, has a change of
cloth with the hope that by the time he comes out, dinner would have
been served. He was tired and hungry, He hadn't eaten all day.
"Where's the food?" He growled from the dining area.
"Still on the cooker but it'll soon be ready, my love. I'm so sorry, I
got home exhausted and had to rest before I could cook." She answered
whilst turning the amala in the pot.
"You mean you're now too
tired to cook for me? For us? Is your job so demanding that you do not
have time to take care of your family anymore?"
He said all of this in one breathe and with a glare on his face.
"Oh, I hate it when he gets like this. I have provoked him yet again.
If only he knew why I'm tired, I'll tell him at dinner." She thought.
"Take it easy babe, you know I'm not lazy, neither do I joke with my
wifely responsibilities, it's just that today, well, today is just
different. There were so many patients at the lab today. You know those
days right? When it seems the whole of Lagos is sick and...............
"SHUT UP!" He roared. "Will you just stop talking and finish the cooking???"
Another meal in awkward silence.
She couldn't tell him what she meant to tell him while they ate. He was too angry to receive such news.

"You complain too much. A wise woman builds her home. You are the woman
and you should study and understand your husband's moods. You should
know when to bring up issues and when you should just keep quiet. I've
always told you patience is a virtue you can never get enough of."
This was all her mum had to say two months into their marriage when she had seen series if his outbursts and anger episodes.
"But mum, I wasn't rude or anything, I don't know why he flares up at
me at the slightest disagreement or difference in opinion. Is it wrong
to have a mind and an opinion of my own even if it's different from my
husband's?"
"No my daughter, it is not, But you need to keep them
to yourself sometimes. You know men and their ego. They don't like it
when you disagree with them and tell it to their faces. You need to take
the back seat and let him be in charge. He is a man!"
Hmmmm!
Layo sighed. She has no energy nor the strength to argue with her mum
anymore. She will just have to be more patient as advised so as not to
provoke her husband.
"Let us pray" her mum said.
"In Jesus name..........

"Why are you not eating your food?"
That voice brought her back to reality.
Her heart skipped a beat.
"I am eating, it's just that.......
"It's just that what?
"That I can't demand for food in my own house again?"
"That I can't correct my own wife again?"
"That I can't correct my own wife again?"
"That you have to sulk like a baby just because your husband scolded you for your wrong doing?"
Before she could decide whether to respond or not, He washed his hand off his almost finished meal and stomps off.
Tears fill her eyes as she clears and washes the dishes.
