Oh what a joyful day it was.
Though it started cloudy and the rain drizzled, she had no doubt it was going to be an awesome day.
Knock knock.
Her mother's voice and soft knock on the door jolted her from her sleep, or slumber???
"Arike, omo Olodumare, omo Jesu, I hope you and your friends are awake and getting ready."
"Ekaro ma" all six of them chorused.
"Good morning my daughters, God bless you all. May you all celebrate things of joy like this in Jesus name. Amen."
Layo quickly checked her phone clock, it's past 5am.
She ought to have been up since 4am.
"I'm going to be late for the most important event of my life", she thought.
Her mum kept on talking about how important it was for a good wife to wake up early in order to take good care of her husband, home and of course herself.
"Mo ti gbo ma, I've heard ma."
She told her mum for the umpteenth time.
She didn't want mummy going on and on with the lectures today of all days.
"Get up ladies, we bath in twos and if possible, threes."
Doyin and Lape reject the proposition while the others shrugged in agreement.
"Layo, you bath first and alone, after all it's your day."
Sade her maid of honour said.
"No, we go in together" she chipped.
"Just make sure you all take your bath before 6am because prayers start then."
Layo's mum informs them as she leaves the room.
That was after almost five minutes of prayers for her daughter who was getting married.
The wedding ceremony was a success, the reception was glamorous.
The whole of Abeokuta actually knew that the first daughter of Bishop Sonaike got married that day.

"I like you" she heard the boy in rugged jean and T shirt say in the laboratory that afternoon after class.
She looked up at him, sized him up from head to toe.
"And you are?"
"Femi, Femi Adebowale, 300 level student of medicine and surgery."
He answered with confidence.
"And so? If you're a 300 level student of medicine nko? I should start jumping?" She responded, irritated.
"I don't know you, neither have I met you before, and you're here telling me you like me.
If that nonsense line works for all girls, it won't with me."
She said all these whist trying to pack up her books and force them to fit into her bag as she was through for the day.
Deservedly so.
It's been a long day and all Lape craved was a good meal, cold shower and sleep. She had no time to entertain any boy's shenanigans today.
"Oh, I'm sorry if I've offended you, But I was impressed the way you answered the question your lecturer asked you during the class.
You are intelligent, a trait that seems to be going into extinction these days."
He said, still smiling.
"Oh Lord! No, not today, not here, not now.
I don't have the patience for this.
I am tired and hungry.
I'm usually nasty when I'm like this.
Lord please tell this chewing gum doctor in embryo to please be gone!"
"Hey honey", He cooed into her ear.
"What are you thinking about?, you seem lost in your thoughts".
She jolts back to reality and takes in the scene around her.
She is now a married woman, for real! It all seemed like yesterday when she met Femi.
The honeymoon cabin of the resort looks even more beautiful in the morning.
With a view of the sunrise and the beach, she couldn't have wished to be anywhere else.
"I remember the first day we met. In uni, at the physiology laboratory.
Do you remember?"
"How can I forget the day I met the love of my life?." He said with a huge grin.
They held each other for what seemed like forever and eventually had to let go when their breakfast was brought to the cabin.
The waiter poured coffee for Femi while Lape had some tea. The young man accidentally spilled coffee on the table while serving Femi and all hell broke loose!
