The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has confirmed the nomination of
Hon. Justice Godwin Abraham by Governor Udom Emmanuel for the post of
the Chief Judge of the state.
The
confirmation was contained in the resolution of the house, today,
Thursday, June 15, in reaction to a report presented by the committee on
Judiciary, Human Rights and Public Petition through its Chairman, Hon.
Barr. Aniefiok Denis, Member, Etinan State Constituency.
According to the report, having just one prayers/recommendation, the Chairman, represented by his vice, Hon. Otobong Akpan, Member, Ukanafun State Constituency, the nominee who honoured the committee's invitation, was found worthy of the appointment, after a thorough screening.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke in his remarks commended the appointee whom he said had the pedigree and the credentials deserving of his office, congratulating him and urging him to take advantage of the Criminal Justice bill passed by the house to decongest the prisons.
