The State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has assured the people of Eket
Local Government Area of the speedy completion of the on-going
remodelling and urban beautification project of their city.
This was disclosed by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of works,
Mr Ephraim Inyange-yen on Tuesday, when he led the Permanent Secretary, Elder Effiong Essien and other officials of the Works Ministry to the oil rich city, to supervise the demolition of structures that are to give way for the road expansion and remodelling.
The demolition exercise was however, sequel to the payment of compensation to property owners.
The Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyangeyen, in a chat with newsmen disclosed that Governor Udom Emmanuel, in his determination to deliver on his campaign vow to redevelop Eket metropolis, gave the marching order for work to proceed without delay.
While restating the State Government’s resolve to execute projects that would improve the socio-economic lives of the people of the state, Mr Inyangeyen reiterated that Governor Udom Emmanuel, was desirous to complete all on-going projects and hand over to the people for use once they are completed.
On the Eket remodelling and beautification project, the Comssissioner promised to deliver a beffiting job that will have a beautiful garden, sit outs, fountain and other modern facilities completed with a world-class roundabout measuring 90 Metres by 80 Metres.
According to the Works Commissioner, the State Governor, had given 30 days marching order that he needs to see a remodelled environment in Eket, saying, as the Ministry supervising the project, they have also given a marching order to the Contractors handling the job; NigerPet Structures, to ensure the job is done according to specifications and delivered within the alloted time.
Mr Inyangeyen however, assured that by the end of the project, the remodelling will link roads in Eket town to the dualized road Eket-Ibeno and effectively eradicate the usual flooding experienced by the people for decades.
He restated the ministry’s resolve to inspect and monitor projects across the state to improve the infrastructural development of the state and disclosed that the ministry would pay unscheduled visits to project sites.
Also speaking, a Chieftain of the Peoples' Democratic Party and native of the area, Obongiwaad Emmanuel Mbong, thanked the state government for sitting the project and commended the Works Commissioner for his zeal and commitment to duty.
While noting the benefits the project would bring to the entire Local Government Area, Akparawa Ephraim pledged his support and loyalty to the Udom Emmanuel led administration beyond 2019.
